My wife has suggested we take a drive out tomorrow night, and stop for a romantic meal somewhere. Can anyone reccomend a nice reasonable restaurant out in the sticks. I live near stockport, so a 20 miles drive is not too far away, in any direction, country roads of course!
chris.
ps I suggested I turn it into a meet, but I don't think she was too happy about that.(but if you want to come along and show us the way, you and your partner are welcome!!)

just booked into the swettenham arms, it looks lovely, and I think she will be well impressed!
I do live quite far from there, but it is down the A34, which is a nice road, and then some good B and unclassified roads at the end of the trip, fantastic!
thanks for the suggestion, I will let you know what I thought of it,
chris.

Beefy, I must thankyou for what has turned out to be a most excellent evening. The drive over was up to the usual high standards of cheshire country roads, the pub/restaurant was equisite/homely/great service/reasonable price, and the seating for our meal was fantastic, with a floodlit view of my scooby in the carpark outside, hehe.
The food itself was delicious, homecooked and very filling. We just about had room for a delicious pudding!
And the drive home in the dark, along those same country lanes was capped off with a mini convoy following a MY99 UK300 SCOOBY through Congleton to Alderley Edge.
Thanks again beefy, I think I may organise a meet there one day, say meet Stockport, drive out to there, stay for an hour or so, then a country drive back,
fantastic,
chris and missus.

Theres a really nice restaurant in Swettenham village called the "Swettenham Arms". Ive been there a couple of times and the food is great. The only trouble is you have to book as it gets very busy in the restaurant.
It could be too far for you from Stockport though? Anyway this is the website for it:
http://www.cheshireinns.co.uk/swett.html
Also theres a good indian restaurant in Glossop (cant remember the name of it sorry) although perhaps thats not particularly romantic.
