On the way in we saw 8 police vehicles (vans, bikes & cars) along the A59 around Blubberhouses (by the golf *****); and on the way back there were at least 9.
This included a (n unmarked) camera van
Luckily there were loads of Sunday drivers, so no chance to exceed the speed limit anyway. Nice to know that NYP are so over-resourced that they can allocate 20 or 30 police to traffic on a sunny Sunday

Boomer, there's been loads of feds round Menwith hill the last few times I've been past, haven't seen the van before though, I just thought it was extra security for the base but the NYPD are deffo taking the p*ss re traffic policing though

All the police on the A59 by Menwith Hill were there to manage a CND-type march by the crusties who were camping there. I left early, and they were marching down the road, with a huge tailback behind them (luckily opposite direction to me!)

My road angel detected 2 sets of specs on the motorways there and back, 1 on the m6, before charnock richard, and the other on the m62, just before the turn for the m60 south and east.
also saw the high police presence at menwith hill, and the crusties ( those people make me sick! spongers!)
saw the unmarked van near there too, and did my good deed for the day as a motorbike was just about to start overtaking coming the other way. flashed him, and he gave me the nod.
I thought there would have been a much higher police presence, but glad to see everyone driving responsibly, most of the time.
chris.

There was a spy in the sky arround the M1 A1 near Leeds on the way up and about 4.30 on the way back, nice to see there putting all the fines revenue to good use!

Faster
Didn't see any any speed traps as I was watching...
1. The SECS alarm go off every time the wife booted the car to overtake (boost alarm at 14.7 PSI, peak boost 16.1PSI)
2. the gray BMW 5 series which tried to overtake everyone and almost pushed you into the verge as it pulled in front of you.
3 The Red Matiz in "pace car mode" !!
Midlife....

Pulled, he had a laser thingy.
I'll have to invest in a road angel thing.
Worse case senerio is 56 day ban 500 fine.
Hoping me being self employed, no points and having dependant people who rely on me driving for their livlyhood is going to save me from a ban.
Thing is my speedo has gone faulty and was in fact not working at the time, I have video evidence of this but this wont help me a great deal acording to my legal team as I must of known I was speeding. I did but I wouldnt of thought that fast!
At the end of the day I did the crime and I must face up to the fact that I may get a ban. Its just sooo easy when these performance cars go from 80 to 100+ in a couple of seconds!
Depends on the magistrates on the day though. Got to travel all the way upto north yorkshire for it.

Don't forget to enroll on a advanced driver training course.can be completed in under a week and shows the magistrates you are looking to mend your ways.
May save you from a ban if your pleading guilty.

Just signing up for your local advanced driving course should be enough to show your trying to mend your ways - completing it - well that's another thing
This is a good place to start

Cryptwalk,
Where abouts in North Yorks do you have to go?
I was caught a couple of years back on the bike doing 98 in a 60 (straight road, perfect conditions, little traffic). I ended up at Skipton Magistrates Court - £555 fine (part of this was costs I think) and 6 points.
Check the legal cover on your insurance. This may cover you for a solicitor - mine did which saved me £400 ish.
Cheers,
Ian.

Cheers guys.
Ian, i'm unsure as of yet where I have to appear as I dont have a summons yet. Thanks for the pointer regarding legal insurance it appears by my policy I pay an extra for motor legal protection. Don't know if this just covers accident though?
