Being sent to Macclesfield from the US
#3
Hello,
I'm a fellow Subaru Impreza owner, member of www.impreza.net/nasioc from San Diego, Ca, USA. The company I work for is sending me to Macclesfield for a couple months around the end of September. I don't know the exact date yet, but they'll be sending me along with 2 colleagues as soon as they take care of our visas and housing.
Can someone provide some info about the area? Things to do? Places to go? Meets? Would love to meet fellow scooby owners while i'm around

Hi Victor,
As blitz has said there are lots of scoob activities in the macc area. The scoobysmacs meet up every Weds for a run. We were out last night with the South Yorks crew and had a run with 22 scoobs. Check out or website scoobysmacs . If you need any more specific info on macc mail me as I only live 6 miles away and regularly frequent Macc. If you can't get a scooby you can navigate for me if you like.

Thanks for the replies guys. I don't know if the company will provide me/us a car for transportation, but I'd love a ride along one of your drives. So what's there to do for tourists?
Here's some info about my scoob: http://www.awdstyles.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5

I work in Macclesfield mate. I'd be happy to give you a lift to one of our meets, provided you aren't an axe murderer.
Which company are you coming to work for? If you don't want to say then don't worry, it's just I work for a large international company in Macclesfield.

I notice how it is only the "Mad-Dogs" of the group that have offered lifts to our unsuspecting visitor! Good luck to you mate if you decide to take up one of these offers!
Mac is very small, but there are plenty of other places to visit, such as Stockport, Manchester etc. Except the train are no running at the moment as they are re-build the tracks. You will certainly need a car while your over here.
Best part of the area is the countryside, and the great roads that run through it. Ideal Scooby country.

Vic,
you wont be able to use the trains at the moment. They are doing major work on the tracks at the moment in macclesfield and the surrounding area.
there are plenty of buses though and i think they are providing some extra bus services to compensate for the lack of trains,
i'll dig out some local web sites for you if you like,
first one is the local newspaper web-site.
