Im trying to generate interest to arrange a meet at Elvington on the 21st of Feb.
I have been in contact with colin from javelin motorsport and he is happy for us to have a meet there and spectate the trackday.
Colin has also very kindly replied to me with this E mail....
Hi Andrew
No problem with this at all. In fact we could possibly arrange for slow 2
lap convoy run for your non participating members after the luch break if
you can coordinate them so no real tracktime is lost. Keep me informed on numbers in the week prior and we try and make it work.
Colin
or you can cough up the £85 for the full day on the track, So is anyone up for this?
for more in on the event please visit www.javelin-motorsport.co.uk and post here if you can attend the meet?
cheers, Andy

"track" ??
The only times I've ever done or seen any form of motorsport at Elvington it's been cones on the tarmac ( where the handling circuit was when the 200+ club did their day a few years ago, for anyone who went).
Is there actually another part to it I'm missing with a "proper" track ? I quite fancy spectating for a bit, I'm reasonably local.

well, i have been to a javelin motorsport event before which consisted of some track ie runway and slip roads and some cones.
The event on the 21st feb is at the west end of the runway, i have never been to spectate at the west end before so your guess is as good as mine
All as i can say is i enjoyed the last trackday at elvington

Circuit at Elvington is usually a route round the runways marked with cones.
I was there a couple of weeks ago with track-action, and they'd managed to make quite a good circuit, with some good twisty technical bits.
Great if you've not done a track day before, as there's bugger all to crash into (apart from other cars)
One word of caution tho; it is horrendously abrasive. I killed a set of road tyres (all killed equally, to my surprise) in just over 3 hours.

Instead of just meeting, why not have a go? It's only £85 for an open pit lane. You can wave as you lap my slow Skoda
Unfortunately there are no pit garages, which means no one can pinch them

it may be just me, but I've never been one for driving to the circuit just to watch.
at £85 get on there and have a go!
watch out for that skoda tho, although there's no garage for him to nick he might just show you a thing or two on track

I will be there in the old rs 2000 if you fancy a ride, there is a pic on the gallery 15 nov, but not a good one.

reckon it'll be cheaper for me to buy an old smoker rear drive BMW and drive it 'til it dies than replace the tyres on the Impreza again

elvington in the wet/snow is fantastic fun, but you will still srub the tyres badly if you push to hard, as we found out last january! loads of room for spins tho!
be careful though you dont get onto the grass sideways as a 200+ member rolled a BMW M3 cab there when it dug in :-(

Don't tell anyone but the Skud should have a few more horses under the bonnet than standard by the 21st feb
