Northern Meet 5
#1
Hello all,
Date for your diary.
Sunday 29Th April, 10:00am, East bound side of Birch services between J18/19 on the M62.
Northern Meet 5, approx distance 55 miles.
Any of you that intended going to Meet 4, but were unable to attend, should enjoy this just as much.
And hopefully this time we will not have any petrol shortages to worry about.
I have put the start time back a little, to allow the sleepy heads amongst you to wake up.
For those of you that have never been on one of these meets, there is nothing to be frightened of.
You each have a detailed route, and you can drive within the legal limit, and at a pace that you feel comfortable with.
IT ISN'T A RACE.
So come along and enjoy the spectacle of, hopefully, a varied collection of nice motors.
Usual format ladies and gentlemen, please register your interest on this thread, and STATE YOUR CAR TYPE,if thats OK.
It makes life a bit easier for me trying to keep the car list topical, thanks.
Attendees:
3 x 22B (one is approx 340BHP, Ralliart modified)
1 x Shelby Cobra Jet GT500KR,428Cu/in,480BHP.
1 x Marcos Mantis (352BHP)

2 X Mitsubishi Evo 5 (one black, one yellow)
1 x Legacy GT-B
1 x MY94 Toyota MR2 GT Coupe
1 x MY00 Nissan 200SX
1 x MY97 TVR Cerbera 4.2
1 x MY? Range Rover
1 x MY01 (or if sunny Ducati 916 Motorbike)
1 X Yamaha R1 Motorbike (I forgot to put this in)
4 x MY01 (1 is the Robinsons Demonstrator)
6 x P1
1 x Series McCrae
2 x Terzo
1 x STi 6
26 x MY00
1 x MY00 5Door
6 x MY99
2 x STi 5 Type RA
2 X STi 5 Type R
1 x STi 5
4 x MY98

4 x Turbo Impreza MY?
1 X Unknown Car (Chunky from Cumbria)
1 X Unknown car (Maddy)
Given the numbers of probable attendees, I will require your cooperation in dispatching the groups of cars, in batches of 10.
For those that attended NM4, you will be familiar with what I will try and do.
When the car park starts to get quite full, and before we create any kind of nuisance to the patrons of Birch Services, I will ask you to stand next to your cars (not quite drivers start your engines, but).
I will then pick ten cars, 2 or 3 specials + 7 or 8 Imprezas, and issue routes to the owners.
At this point I need the selected bunch to get on their way IMMEDIATELY.
Not screeching off, but a nice smooth timely departure.
I will then wait approx 3 minutes and repeat the excercise, to intentionally break up what would otherwise become a BIG traffic jam of our own making.
I would ask that given the very high numbers PLEASE drive in a sensible manner, paying particular attention to 30 MPH zones.
On Kev and Walkers Midlands Tamworth run I went on last year, in the 30 zones we all did dead on 30 MPH.
We could all have a very pleasant cruise, with a controlled turn of speed (ie legal)in the right area, and hopefully not create animosity with the general public.
If we allow it to degenerate into a wacky races scenario, the chances of repeating a similar event would become less likely, due to Police intervention.
I have chosen roads that should be rewarding to drive, with spectacular scenery, without the need for ANYBODY to lose their Licenses,
or have a crash.
I trust we can all have a memorable day, for the right reasons, and you all ENJOY yourselves.
YOU CANNOT LEAVE THE CAR PARK FOR PETROL, AND THEN RETURN TO THE CAR PARK,LEGALLY.
YOU HAVE TO GO ONTO THE MOTORWAY AFTER FILLING UP.
So to ensure a smooth departure, it would be wise to ensure you fill up at the last station prior to the meeting point.
Cheers MTR

Hi,
Tony from hereford with UK my99 model good chance to make it.
Wife and daughter want to stop at Manchester Sat night then drop them off with a couple of credit cards at the Traford centre . ( if not I'll convoy up with the Worcester boys)
I can then go on up to birch Services for the meet.

Hi MTR,
Me again. Told a mate of mine about the meet.
He says he'll probably come along. He's got a 22B, so I hope he does. He's putting it up for sale though, he wants a P1 instead, so he might not have it by April. Anyone interested?

Hey
I'll give it a whirl in my Fiesta si if that's alright?
Does the Stratos replica belong to Dave Hodkin per chance?
Bob
Fiesta si, approx not enough horsepower but handles well to compensate!
