Dyno Demon, Neston, Wirral
Anyone know anything about this outfit? Seems to be a new venture, was tempted to put the Scoob on the dyno and satisfy my curiosity

Have you been for a look around yet as I they mentioned you had been in touch with them. What power should an Audi RS4 make, 380bhp is it as they had one on the rollers at it receorded 375bhp so fairly accurate set up they have.
If you do get a rolling road day organised there, can I join in on it as I'm only 10min down the road from there.

I'll try and pop over for your next meeting as my other half doesn't work in the evenings now. When you do come over to Neston I'll let you know the fun way to get there as there is a very good road off the A540 which I always enjoy driving. Only problem is that you can get very carried away and almost watch the fuel gauge drop as you drive it. If you look on Multimap it's the road through Puddington off the A540.

I still haven't managed to pop over to have a look even though it is only 10 mins from me too.
Would be interested in a rolling road day depending on the date set, am away early September.
Cheers

Am taking my car there on wed 26th of november for a service an rolling rd test! my car is standerd tho apart from having half a tank of e85 in it an half normal petrol! so wanna see what figures i get from 50/50 mix! when i ran 100% the engine management light came on! got it on a computer an it was running lean! got it switched off then 50/50 mix done a good few miles since no problems as yet! ill be sure to post my results of dyno an any problems i have with e85! reallt thinking of a full switch 2 e85 an getting the mods needed to take it! extra power always good!

e85 is bioethanol sold in morrisons! its got a very high octain rating of like 109?? not 100% sure of octain rating! you get 20% more power off it than normal petrol! but your ment to make changes for yourcar to run on it! the fulat the ecu came back as was it was running lean!
e85 is 85% bioethanol 15% petrol!
here's a link for u to look at Bioethanol Cars Guide – Ratings & Reviews at WhatGreenCar.com
hope that explians it for you all! Me my self i love the stuff!
i watched a video on youtube where they ran a car which wasnt changed to run off bioethanol, then they stripped the car down 2 see how the engine, fuel lines etc was affected! the engine was cleaner ran perfect! an no damage 2 anythin! so i just took me chances an so far so good! anythin happens ill be sure to post!

Thanks for the info Hagan. I'm not convinced as you are though If the benefit is really 20% more power for little or no change, then surely all the top tuners and the performance car market as a whole would be running it.
What car have you got, and what mods do you currently have in total? Engine, suspension, brakes ect?
Cheers,

my car is standared m8, its a 03 wrx! an the improvment is great with e85! i wouldnt advise any one 2 use it, unless your willing to take the chance! but i dont think anythin bad about it, or any damage will happen! try putting £30 vpower or what u use, an £10 of e85! am now using a 50/50 mix of e85 an vpower an the engine light hasnt come back on! it came on when i used e85 on its own! but wasnt anythin seriouse just sensers getting wrong reading! thinking of getting 2maps one for normal use an one for e85

well my car going on dyno on wed 26th of nov! so see what bhp she pushing out on a 50/50mix of e85 an vpower from a standared car! normal is 225 bhp isnt it? never done a rolling rd b4 with the car so first time 4 me! ill post the results! if any one would like to see em????

It's only worth using higher octane fuel if you can't get to Minimum Best Torque (MBT) when mapping the ignition using your normal fuel. If you're getting MBT without knock, using higher octane fuel won't release any more power on it's own.
Where E85 would be useful is in running boost levels and/or compression ratios that would otherwise knock itself to pieces on NUL or SUL.

The great promise of bioethanol is its potential to be 'carbon-neutral' on a life cycle basis; all the carbon dioxide emitted during use of the fuel being balanced by the absorption from the atmosphere during the fuel crop's growth. However, in practice the process of growing the crop requires the input of fossil fuels for fertilisers, harvesting, processing and fuel distribution. The extent of life cycle greenhouse gas emissions is therefore strongly dependent on the crop grown and the fuel processing employed.
Interested in what results you get tomorrow as I've been on that dyno myself.
I've just had a look at the results for our previous 2 rolling roads at DD, and the closest car to yours was a my03 wrx which got 248, not sure if there were any mods on that.
I can't help thinking though that running e85 is a waste of time, not only are you risking killing your engine, but a simple exhaust/remap/filter would unleash a lot more power in the long term and be a much safer bet. The remap would actually save you money in the long term as your car would be running better.

The results are in
bhp = 245.6 from a totally standard wrx
thats running a 50/50 mix of e45 an v-power so increase of 20bhp from standard, So am really happy there. As for people worried about blowing there car up, i have done alot of reaserch on e85 an i believe it will not do any damage what so ever! An running of a 50/50 mix when its linked up to a computer everythin is running fine! When i ran 100% mix the engine light did come on an the fault was a senser which was easy to switch off an wasnt anythin 2 even worry about! Am not saying do what am doing so dont get wrong idea! But the time i have spent looking into it an videos i have watched about e85 i honestly think there wouldnt be any damage done to my car! They have tested it in america, they ran a pick up truck on it for a good while! stripped the engine down an checked everythin on it! Everythin was normal, as in wear an fuel lines. An that pick up wasnt changed in anyway for that fuel. They said if anythin the engine was cleaner!
now i am thinking of exhuast mod's an re-map. The owner of dyno demon seemed amazed i got them figures by only fuel an no mod's. I think he will mention somethin about it on his site soon! i did ask him an he said he would like to if i didnt mind so am looking forward to see what he say's about it! An if anythin does go wrong with my car i will be sure to post! would like to hear what you people think about the results.

Certainly a good result with your figures, but at what cost? I can't help but feel it's kind of a niche performance gain really. You're only going to see those figures if you run the 50/50 mix, live near an e85 supplier, want to risk your p&j blowing a sensor or two and aren't doing any of the "normal" mods beforehand that would give you much better figures on normal petrol.
I can't see why you've gone down this route Hagan. You'd be much better off just getting the mods and leaving the e85 for the prius's of this world.
All the best with your adventure though

it was only really a test to see what that fuel actualy does! the petrol station that sells this is a good 20mins drive from me! i just wanted to see what mix my car can / cant take an the powewr gains! one day this fuel will be sold at more pumps. so when that time comes i might actual go for the switch. an get my car mapped to it / any other changes they say is needed. the next thing for me is a few mod's, just thought i would share with you people so u know the power gains etc, for when that time comes when u can get it at most stations, so you lot can make the choice of normal petrol or e85 an can see the gains u do get from e85. At a 50/50 mix +20bhp i would really like to know what i would get at 100% mix! but that will have 2 wait for now!
