I've owned plenty of Vectra B models, love them but I've never owned a C - my brother does though and I think it's such an ugly boring bland car. It feels like your sitting in a box and the dash / console looks like a dull transformer.

I have owned a mk3 Mondeo though, a 2.5 Zetec-S and I highly rated it, much better car than the Vectra C and it would probably use the same amount of fuel.

my advice would be any engine but the 2.2 in the vectra,im sure on a 54 plate it will be the direct, easy way to tell is if it has twin exit exhaust.

rings went on mine at at 90k(non direct) A friends direct pump went on his which is common on the direct, have never really heard anything good and would even go for the 1.8 over the 2.2, best engine in the vectra is the z20net 2.0 turbo petrol(my opinion), saab engine and is bullet proof.

Does it have any service history? make sure it's not burning oil,and they use a chain so listen for any rattling, might sound harsh but this is just my opinion.

What is there to love about a soulless boxy repmobile?

Did own the 2.2 Vectra B, was only about 10 months old when I got it, never away from the dealers for various issues.

The 2.2 isn't actually a bad engine, but never ever again.
