![Question](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/icons/icon5.gif)
My Phase 1 isn't running properly and flags a lambda fault. I recently changed out an injector which fixed a misfire. I have a new pre-cat Lambda but I can't change it myself and it might not cure the problem.
Insurance runs out next week and MOT later in May.
Three of the 'zaust hanger bolts are knackered and this might need fixing for the MOT. Not sure. I think it might need new front tyres as they are close to marginal.
Car is probably worth £1000 if running fine and with MOT I'd say.
I'm feeling very tempted to just get rid. Not sure I want to sink cash into this car and I might go for a year with no car and save some money. With no insurance though I can't keep it parked anywhere. Won't sell for much with no MOT, if at all. So this is something of a dillema. Otherwise scrap for £100.
What do you think?

Why can't you change the lambda? If you already have it, you may as well swap it and hopefully it will fix the fault. I had similar issues with the lambda and come MOT it failed with high readings for HC and CO. Changed both pre and post cat lambdas and fixed the problem. If the front tyres are low but still legal, swap the wheels fronts to back. If you decide to sell, you get more for it if it's all fixed and MOT'd. You'd lose more if you scrap it. Plus it'll be a shame to scrap it, it's the last of a dying breed of old school hot hatches.

I know! I scuffed a few knuckles changing mine, but it can be done on axle stands. I would recommend a small blow torch (got a cheap one from Maplins of all places!) to heat the area around the lambda first to expand the metal around the lambda to "loosen" it a little. I had to cut the lambda down to get a socket around it, forget using a "lambda" socket they're next to useless.

I helped a friend out on his 182 a while ago showing codes. He eventually changed both sensors which sorted it.
IIRC we changed one, and a garage changed another while it was in for some other piece of work. Other than risk of seizing, dead easy job and worth trying. Get a code clearer too!
