I think they are great cars personally and would have another.
Better getting a manual IMO
Watch out for smg issues with not changing gear when in the most sportiest mode, gear change should be almost instant and stick you to the seat.
Any hesitation or lights flashing is a no no.

What's up with the wr1?

A z3m coupe is what you should be looking for
I'm going to start saving some pennies for one me thinks as I don't have a 'fun' factor car anymore and the value of them just keep rising.

But from the ad it looks like the guy has had it just over a year (and it does look like a good well looked after example tbf)

And yet he has still had to spend the best part of 3k on it, probably more

That is 30% of the cars value in a year - just seems a lot of cash to me, on a depreciating asset

But it does look nice

After looking at a fair few (dealers realy do try it on with em), managed to source a decent example for a decent price. Needs a bit of body work sorting out, nothing major just a tidy up.

It's a 2001 E46 M3, Carbon black, SMG, grey leather interior and it seems to have had the options book thrown at it, i can't find any blanked off button holes hahaha

very differnet. Feels more planted than the scoob, but not realy pushing too hard, 300+ rwd from awd is prob asking for trouble so learning it steady hahaha

Has a vey different power delivery to the scoob, cos the turbo punch isnt there it builds speed steadily rather than a big surge. It's only when you look at the speedo you realise, oo **** i'm doing 130 hahahaha

Nicer on a cruise than the scoob, quieter and more solid etc.

Realy please with it, needs a bit of tidying on the body work but given what i paid for it odd thing needing to be done is to be expected.

Got loads of history and receips with it, had rear subframe done already, Intravee computermabob which i need to figure out how the **** works, got 154 page manual with each page full hahaha. Can control pretty much everything from it, when the mirrors fold, what lights come on when you unlock/lock it, how long they stay on for after yout lock it etc etc

tbh much the same day to day early 20's, hawk was a tad better long runs, 30mpg m3 vs 35mpg scoob, although that was with stop start traffic as well. I reset the computer when i picked it up and says 24.5.

Insurance wise depeds with who, cos m3 is standard can use compare sites and they came out about 50-100 cheaper than the scoob, but bear in mind that was tuned 2.5 scoob running about 400bhp with all mods declared.

Yeah, i really want one for a weekend/track toy but at £10-£15k its not really a consumable
But id probably get free motoring and maybe a profit when comes to selling.
So i think a cheaper alternative is on the cards as it wont matter if i damage it etc.

you can get decent m3's for as low as 6.5k, like mine might need some body work but if its a track toy does it mater?

Was talking about the z3m to ditchy, I've drove a m3 and they are ok but too refined for a track toy and a detuned e46 motor in the z3m is actually quicker than the m3 so imagine if it was tuned back upto m3 power

The m3(6 cylinder) is the wrong one to buy IMO. I think that the 335 is the one to go for.

You will get a newer car for your money and the performance is VERY similar. You will probably get more kit(but not sure) and is more comfortable with a lot better mpg.You will also get a newer shape so doesn't look as dated(it wont be) and its a bit of a sleeper as well.

p.s if you like the I-drive(I don't)then you can get auto or if you think its s**t like me, just get the manual(bit quicker as well).
