So I completed my scratch build car...well almost
I posted a thread on here last year after being an extremely long time lurker, in the hunt for a spoiler for a car I was building;
https://www.scoobynet.com/scoobynet-...-a-kitcar.html
I thought I'd share the outcome because id asked on here, as I've finally got it to a stage that I can drive it....and the outcome was spoilerless...for now! Never did quite find the right one. (so any other suggestions welcome!)
I'm not going to spam the thread with information and photo overload, just a few pics of the outcome and a video and blog link.

To this;
Video of it finished, I do have other videos but as I said didn't want to spam it all in here.

Chassis is a tubular, blank canvas etc... (pic1) so I got a new vin number etc... from the DVLA. Running gear is currently a 2l turbo / 3s-GTE from an Mr2.
However I do want to transplant a v6 into it eventually, but to allow me to get it on the road with a normal registration plate and not a Q plate I had to meet a certain value in a points system which sticking a v6 in wouldnt of allowed.
I've deigned it that any wing will mount through to supports below the fibreglass...it just needs some holes drilling, hence ill only get one chance to get the right wing.
Driving wise I can drive it without a wing without any issues.

The interior has to be all redone, that was built to pass the test, not how I wanted. It's crap lol
Yes I did, only posted this on a few forums I'd used during process so if your on mkivsupra, that's me.
You do get a 'kit' but it's more like a few parts and your left to build it for yourself. The kit is from America so they don't know our test requirements. You could build one for about £25k, maybe a little more. Depends what you can do for yourself and exchange rate.

Probably won't be for a few days but I'll chuck a few up at some point, so the idea of the build and hidden bits can be seen
Ahh, those were the days, around 6yrs since I've owned that.

In America the test to get the car on the road isn't as tough. Here VOSA weren't happy with the height of the reservoirs as they felt it was border line if they were the highest point in the system, hence I had to raise them.

I must be the only one who thinks it looks cr@p.
Well done and all that for building it yourself. I'd never be able to do it.
But the rear end looks awful, and why is there a hole in the bonnet with fluid bottles on show?

Much respect for the build but £25k for an MR2 in a skirt
It is a very good replica but as previously mentioned, the back end is all sort of wrong. Each to their own - I wish I was in a position to have £25k in a toy

Its important when building a kit car to use enough parts from the same car to score enough points to get a normal registration, if you don't or use parts from various cars you get a Q plate. The chassis / engine compartment can take a v6 or v8, its just our DVLA that limits you doing so early in the build, later on you can do what you want to it.
I'm not in the position to have a £25k toy, I use to have a toyota supra TT, I sold that 4-5yrs ago and I work from home. As i'm sure you know once you take buying a Jap sports car, insurance, tax, mot, tyres, mods etc... take that over 4-5yrs and the amount you can save by not having one it adds up quick.
I just actually made the choice to ditch having the sporty car to follow my dream and build my own car. Sacrifices have to be made for each of us to reach our own goals, this just happened to be mine.

Much respect.
So many on here consider themselves "experts" having driven a few cars and by owning some fairly dull German/Jap box.
It takes a huge amount more dedication and knowledge to build your own; I even found custom fitting a few speakers in my Subaru bloody hard work!!
Is it drive-able yet?
