Anyone know if the new Cup wheels will fit on a standard phase 2 172?

They have to homologate over 2500 to take part in Group N apparently. UK is getting 500 cars to start with. I have no idea what it'll be like, just hope it'll be as nice as my former 306 Rallye was.

Kussimurran if I remember right youve got an Integra R ?

Beleive me mate you will hate the clio after getting out of the ITR!!!

I have a Mk2 172 Sport and I love it but Ive just done a track day in the old integra and the clio together and the ITR left it for dead on everything!

Clio is great for running around and has all the extra's but the ITR is in a different league on the track. Depends what you plan to do I suppose.

Harj...

Harj!

Yes I did have one, sold it as we needed a cruiser to travel long distance in, so now we have a Mondeo Ghia X that's the bollox on long journeys.

Also bought a Caterham 7 HPC track car, but found it too unusable for the road, and can no longer afford track days as I have been off sick for a year, so the Clio Cup sounded like a good thing for having fun in, especially since you can tweak it under warranty. The Integra was awesome on track, no doubt about it, but a tad noisy and impractical for general use.

I have no doubt that the Integra is overall more suited to the track than the current 172, got to remember that that was what it was designed for. With a few minor tweaks to the 172 in the suspension and brake department, I think the 172 would become pretty accomplished too though. Just different, that's all. Do you enjoy yours?

Andreas.

Is this version only as light as the Mk 1? Sounds like renault pulling a fast one.

davyboy -

Weight wise it is only similar to the mk1 so it's a bit of a scam.

However, it has a few tweaks over the mk1 such as closer gearing, revised steering and suspension, etc... so will handle a lot better. The mk1 is a great car, but does suffer from understeer and is geared a bit high, but this should be great.

I think steering and gear ratios are the same, it's just the track, alloys and ****e interior that are bonuses, plus the fact that you can modify it under warranty, which is good.

Personally i can't wait for it, finally a car to capture the spirit of the 106 Rallye, which was undoubtedly one of the most fun things ever to have 4 wheels attached to it. Nice one Renault, almost enough to forgive the Avantime and Vel Satis. Almost...
