I was on the Snake last night and it was a bit wet and this **** bandit comes up behind me in his CL 55 AMG and his car was shown up. Don't pester us Scoob's unless you have the machinery to do so
If I had the money 84,140 (from) OTR to buy a this car I wouldn't in a million years. I know they are built for different reasons but M-Benz claim the AMG range is true "sports car performance". Well I didn't see any not 85,000 grands worth anyhow more like ST200 ford mondeo performance

A CL55AMG would simply crush any road going impreza performance wise. You guys make me laugh, next you'll be telling us how you whooped a Formula one car round the "twisties" at a Silverstone track day.
(Incidentally F1 have CL55AMG's as their safety car, not an impreza - I wonder why? Might be something to do with towering performance combined with granite build quaility and reliability)

I don't have a CL55, but a much slower 500E from the early 90's. Above 60 its much much faster than a Scoob I'm afraid.

Of course... get anywhere near a wet road/bend and its a different story!

LOL
Yeah I love it
Just wondered if any of the people who drive scoobs have actually been out in proper "fast" cars as i can quite believe ascoob feels like the fastest thing on the road cos of the serious turbo lag!!!

Merc is probably only 2 - 3 times the weight of the Scoob as well

I have just swapped out of a CLK 430 (290bhp 4.3 ltr V8) to an impreza type R (280-300bhp). Up to about 110 MPH and on twisties the impreza would be ahead. Above this speed even a 430 tears away to 155mph limit like the clappers.

Oh and believe me 155 in a CLK feels like 80mph in a scooby.

Oh (part2) guess which one makes you grin like a kid.. not the merc I can tell you.

Will be funny when some of you come up against a new AMG SL55 - 0-186mph faster than a Murciellago, 911GT2 and 575 Maranello......

If I had 85ish grand that's where my money would go......

Infact, all the current AMG mercs should have performance that all std Scoob owners can only dream of.

Cool

Just come back from Bug Jam (see other topic), and there was a road legal 1960's Split-Screen camper van there that did the quarter in the low 13's with a terminal of over 110mph, and it still had the guy's camping gear in it.

It also looked cooler than any Merc, or Scoob I've ever seen

In fact it was so cool it has convinced me to sell my scoob and get one

Stuff like this makes me laugh!! Like anyone of you guys would rather have a Scoob over a CL55 AMG. Not likely! Yes they're big and heavy, yes they're not as pointy squirty as an Impreza, but ...........................

well, it's that dillusional "Impreza driver being superior" thing all over again. Give me either over the snake pass, and the Merc would get there first. And it wouldn't be rattling or have fading brakes or have picked up loads of stone chips etc etc.

Sure, this is Scoobynet, but come on. Impreza over a CL55 AMG. Errrr no!

One of these 55's was stuck right behind me the other day so decided to have a play with him....

come to the crunch, I pi$$ed all over him in my P1....both on straight and bends....

I know he was trying coz I saw articles of clothing being thrown out of the window to get rid of excess weight....

eheheh, some of you may think they can **** all over all cars..... In a straight line, I know of one Vauxhall Nova that ripped shreds off an Impreza....

Better than EVERY car ??

Yes it will be different on "the twisties" but seeing as 95% of Scooby drivers only rate cars on what it does on "the twisties" and single only this factor out, lets do the same comparison in reverse and single out straight line speed as the only factor

I'd rather have a car with all the comforts (air con, crusie control etc etc etc), rock solid build quality and still manage 14 second 1/4 miles and 6 second 0-60's

Imprezas cant do all that (interior lets it right down)

Na Cammy, just horses for courses.

TBH, unless you do plenty of track days or live in a deserted and "interesting" countryside with good roads then it would be a waste to have an Impreza, you might as well have a Ford.... Same build quality and tacky dash

go on.... bite ya swines

i think a sports car is for all kinds of roads not just straight line flat out runs.
so sports car an amg aint
yes dont get me wrong i would swap my scoob for an amg anyday then sell it and go and by my scoob back and live it up for a while
sorry but merc saw you coming, fools

Look Richie1

Scoobs Rule....nothing will ever change.

The only thing your doing when buying German is paying for THEIR privelage of nicking all the bloody sunbeds when we are on holiday.

And yes I have tried it on with one and Pi$$ed all over it...Mind you, I looked over (briefly) and his wife an kids were unbolting the seats, chucking out articles of clothes and stripping off the door panels as fast as possible when I took him at 150...

Paul,

SL55 AMG - will leave you for dead.

As it has a pretty good active suspension setup as well, it'll probably be right up any scoobs 4ss round all but the tightest of bends (and on the real tight ones bet it won't be understeering like a Scoob)

so it will stay with you round the bends and blast past you andytime it wants on the straights.....

No I have got one, or any Merc, I'm just not a Scoob owner with his head stuck up his 4ss thinking he's got the fastest car in the world

Q: Dear Jim,

Please could you fix it for me to kick AMG Mercedes a$$ in my Subaru Impreza. Deep down, I know the Impreza doesn't have the credibility or the breeding to do so, but it would really make my day. Then, I could go on Scoobynet and tell them how great an Impreza really is.

A: Errrr, wake up and have your Weetabix! Run along now!

Anyone know a garage that could do a diesel conversion for my RB5 ? Since I'm regularly getting my *** whipped by Merc Minicabs I may as well save money at the same time....
