Mitsubishi FTO

I drove the 2.0 V6 and thought it was good.
Not a big fan of front wheel drive cars.
But very good value for money.
Gets my vote.
Another thought what about a nice Eunos only 5k - one of the best rear wheel drive cars I have ever driven. Not fast but the dogs nuts when it comes to a responsive involving drive.

Please help me persuade MrsREV that she needs to replace her crappy V reg Renault Clio Si with a Mitsubishi FTO. I'm sick of paying £100 a month toward a car I hate, I figure the drive will look cooler with an FTO parked between the Lexus and the Scooby, but what else can I persuade her with?

An FTO? Why? They look ok, yes but that's it. Get her to buy a new shape MR2 or MX5. At least they're rwd and handle. But, if it's for a bird who doesn't care about handling, etc. then fair enough.

Maybe the 1.8 has a different setup to the V6 2 litre that most people have then? That (1.8) is what i drove for a few days.
The worst thing was the steering though, had the lightest/deadest feel of any PAS car i have driven
Avoid tip 'box on the FTO like the plague, the change is soooooo s-l-o-w and annoying.
Nath.
p.s. My vote goes to the puma for the best handling FWD. (havent driven a itr)

Nath,
The 1.8 is 125bhp and the v6 mivec 200 bhp - so there should be some difference!
The tip box is fine but would imagine on 125bhp with little torque it would be slow. It's actually a very good box, the latter ones were 5 spd which helped as the engines need to be revved to get the most out of them which is obviously more difficult in the 4 spd versions.
I thought the tip box was good fun - plant your foot, never have to lift off the change

The FTO is a blinding little car, just sold mine after 3 years of faultless motoring and am looking for a scooby to replace it.
The 1.8 does have a different suspension setup to the V6's
As for no go, the manual GPX does 60 in 6.4, hardly a slouch now! as for the handling, after the TEG R it is one of the best handling FWD cars you'll find.

doubt a manual GPX could do the 60 sprint in 6.4
Best I've heard from the owners club is 6.8 the funny thing is someone in a GR tip managed 6.9
low 7's is more realistic, maybe 7 dead
