nope, read the ad - fully registered "02" car. If the texaco eggenberger 500s were kit cars then so is mine!

Question

was it built by ford at their factory many years ago? or by an individual/company in a workshop?

i think youl find chaps it was built from brand new ford parts? i remember someone saying if the car is built with over a certain percentage new ford parts it qualifies as a new car? or that may be all new parts, can remember???
am i a wrong or right?

so if i buy some ferrari wheels, an engine, and some panels, put 'em together in my backyard, its a ferrari? or would it be better if it were built in ferraris factory?
not saying this is the case with this particular car at all, i'm just confused.

apples is spot on.

all cars are just big meccano sets at the end of the day, you can only make a cosworth from cosworth parts or as you say a ferrari is only a ferrari if its made from ferrari bits.

Basically Ford no longer make Sierra Cosworths so if you want a new one this is the only way you will get one.

For instance, if my scoob was built in june of one year but wasn't registered until August of the same year, it would be regarded as a new car (with the post Aug No: plate), so why is it so different for a car which is physically 15+ years old, but has just been registered?

no different from some classic cars etc that have been "restored" i.e built from the gorund up with new parts and had the chassis plate moved over. more often than not, better than the originals.

(except some e.g. my well dodgy MG Midget which was filler over cornflake packets - but thats another story )

does not need a cat as it has an original YBB spec engine, which is based on pre 1992 type approval.

People are naturally curious, especially when you talk about a 2002 Sierra, let alone Cosworth.

For what it's worth I think the idea alone is amazing, but to have brought the idea to reality is way beyond amazing!

I certainly wish I could afford to buy it, but my interest is solely as a fellow car enthusiast and former Cosworth dreamer!

I see from the other thread that you'll be posting pics, I hope so, as I haven;t seen the article on the car.

Thanks,

Jon

this car looks awesome.
Are the mechanics built from new components or reconditioned items ? What block have you used ? And who built it ?
Is the whale tail an original as many of the parts are no longer in production.
This as a cool car and I maybe interested in it.
If I was would you mind if the car was inspected by a specialist.

That would be so smooth - all the "experts" saying that it cant be a Y-Reg.

How many times would you get asked about it (and probably pulled by plod )

change of plans, and possible change of job in the last couple of days has opened up a couple of options.

my company car may be going, so I will need a usable car, the white cosworth is to good to use for this purpose therefore possible part exchanges could be :-

Usable RS500 (ie does not need to be a show car, just historied and upto 80k on the clock) plus £5,000 to me

Escort Cosworth similar to above plus £5,000 to me

or mint low miles standard S1 plus £10,000 to me.

not looking for any other car though

if anyone is interested in these options drop me an email

http://cosworth@cybersourced.com

cheers
