Well it looked quite nice in the flesh.... maybe an alternative to the STI 
.....nah only in the tarting stakes
This was at the (internal) launch of the new VW Phaeton at Whittlebury Hall in Silverstone half last weekend. They had the Golf Diesel Rally Car, a Polo touring car (?) the beetle and the Phaeton.I didn't bother taking any photos of the Phaeton, it just looks like a Passat on steroids!
Anyone know the performance of this beetle? I had a beetle for a couple of days when they first came out (on loan for a photo shoot), but it made me feel seasick!

Its the Beetle RSi.
3.2 litre V6, 225 BHP, 4-motion, 0-60 6.4, c. 140mph top speed.
Only 250 were made IIRC - original asking price was circa 50k, going for high 20s, 30K now (used). Based on the New Beetle Cup racers....

I think anywhere near 50k is taking the ****, just a little
I guess exclusivity helps.....
It didn't sound that great either when they drove it out through teh hotel the next day!

Theres the Millenium Cup edition which looks pretty simler, but carries the usual 1.8T. AFAIK though, only heard of it being available in the Middle East....Much cheaper...
