Hunting for a MINT 205 gti!
#3
the 205 forum is down at the moment they had some problems, but it really is excellent for all things 205 - very much lacking in the "car a vs car b" and "i raced schmacher and won" threads that can be a bit prevalent here... When it comes back you'll find what you want there.
http://forum.205gtidrivers.com/
a poorer alternative is the pgac board:
http://forum.peugeot-gti.net/
but this tends to be a bit more max powered.
good luck - and yes there are a few real mint 205's about, but they are very very hard to come by...

If you are going for the Miami Blue model, I think some came with full black leather and sliding glass sunroof (on a H or J reg).
Was the last one made on the K plate??????

Wonderful cars. They are about, but you have to look hard.
I bought a red one-lady-owner H plater with PAS and a mere 19000 miles on it as a runaround whilst waiting for my new WRX to arrive last year, and was hooked. Put it up for sale for ridiculous money when my car arrived, and sold it immediately. Still regret it deeply.
The Impreza felt liveless and uninvolving in comparison. I kept it a mere 2 months, disenchanted with my new toy. So I sold it, invested the cash and bought another 1.9. Use it every day and love it to bits.
My original car was sadly shunted and rebuilt, but is still going. It appeared in the local classifieds a few weeks ago, now with 32000 miles, for £2200, or £1800 less than I sold it for..
My current 1.9 is actually a nicer example than my original, and feels better for its 76000 miles. It was better cared for, had no PAS meaning more more feeling, the body is in better shape, and I prefer the colour (charcoal grey). Its coming off the road at the end of the month for a freshen up- new clutch, brakes, bushes, front valance paint, drivers seat rebuild and exhaust system. It should last then.
Dont know why you want a very late model? The last models were catalysed, robbing the car of BHP and response. Go for a non PAS H or J plater. You won't regret it.

Speak to Martin @ Race Pace Engineering. He looks after my friends amazing 200+bhp @ the wheels 205 GTI and often finds excellent cars...
Has some race ones too!

Can only echo Olly's sentiments entirely. Best cars i ever owned 1.9 gtis. dont get the catted later versions.
and, amazingly for a hot hatch, you can do massive journeys with excellent comfort and little fatigue.
All in all I reckon they are the best car ever made, seriously.

Just some info I found regarding a certain afore mentioned company with 3 letters in their company name on the Peugeot Sport Club.

From what I've heard Skip Brown seem to be one of the best people around and come highly recommended by a number of people. I've never used them so can't offer personal advice on my experiences.
However as for the other company... well have a read first.

You'll be wanting to avoid most other Lancashire based Pug tuners (!!!!!), other than Skip Brown Cars... and that's not just me saying it because the car I'm selling is modified by them, but if you can find someone who has a bad word to say about them... well... you won't. Anywho, I thought I'd offer the car here despite the fact that it's Sorrento Green and not Miami Blue, and the fact that I'm not sure if you were looking for a standard car or not... in fact it's not even a last of the production line car, it's a '91 J reg. It is mint however, and has an engine built by the best people in the business.

Just by the by, a recent PSC 106 Rally Register rolling road day found the following; "...the popular L.A.D Motorsport 130bhp engine conversion produced only 7bhp over a standard engine when L.A.D. claim it gives an extra 27bhp!" It's not an uncommon tale.

From: 1600cc's of twin scroll fun :)
Just do a search on autotrader, it costs nothing to register so go national and put gti in, dunno if it will throw out the colour your after but at this stage and the fact this car was discontined 8 years ago finding a good one is now rather hard

the 1.9 motor is hard to get more power out of with the standard injection system on, got mine up to 170bhp with big cam, flowed head, 45's, and a full exhaust.

I remember a while back LAD Motorsport were selling totally rebuild 205s. As to the quality etc no idea.
One thing I can tell you though is that Skip Brown Cars is an absolute mecca of Pug tuning. I always used to take mine there, and the diff was unbelievable after a standard service.
Sadly my 306 XSi got trashed over the weekend, so I need a new car

I have been looking for a 205 Gti for a while now & I just can't find the right car.
I am looking for one of the last 205 Gti's ever made, unmarked body , low mileage & Hopefuly in Miami Blue.
Does anybody think this car is out there or am I just kiding myself?
Does anyone out there know any one selling one or a forum where I could find one?
Thanks
Victoria
