Anyone tried the new Saab 9-3 4 door

I'm having a look at one of these for a company car - either the Vector or the Aero. Not in the Scoob league dynamically, I know, but I'd be interested to hear any feedback.

Tried a couple - a 2.0t and a 2.2TiD, both Vector spec (I think).
Not too impressed - nice enough, but seemed more Audi than an Audi, if you see what I mean. I drive a Saab 9000 at the moment, and thought a 9-3 might be the way to go, but it didn't seem to have any real character. Just a bit bland.
Well built, handles well enough, quickish, but the steering doesn't provide enough feedback, and the brakes, though effective, didn't provide me with the oomph I expected. (Then again, I've got seriously upgraded TSL discs/pads on my 9000, so I'm a bit spoiled.)
I wouldn't consider one as a private purchase, but if it makes sense for you from a tax point of view, it might well be a smart choice as a company car.

Totally disagree....I think its a great car...have test driven the 2.0t Vector 175bhp, and it knocks all other previous Saabs into a cocked hat for handling, and I think is just about on a par with BMW. The one I drove had the optional sports chassis, however, and an auto 5 speed gearbox, which suits the car. There is plenty of power, but its not a sports car like a Scooby. Once rolling though, the light pressure Turbo comes in low down and I reckon it would have the jump on a lot of other more overtly sporting cars. The showroom on Saturday was overflowing at the dealership I was at, and there were a lot of positive comments flying around.
Interior is excellent, definitely Saab, and bang up to date with loads of equipment. Also it looks classy, especially in Silver.

Did you seriously like the steering? Maybe the sports chassis makes a bigger difference than I thought.
I was just expecting a much bigger leap forward from the old 9-3. The new 'un didn't seem any better than a Vectra in terms of handling (I know they're the same floorpan, but even so....)
As I said, if it suits circumstances, fine. I tried (and much preferred) a Volvo S60T not long back, and if I were to be going for a company car the S60 2.5D would probably be my choice.

Thanks Rich
I read somewhere that the Vector (175 BHP) was better than the Aero (210 BHP) - EVO mag I think. Looks like the sports chassis option (£250) might be a good investment.
