Hmmmm, my old man is looking at one of these
Quite frankly paying around 20K for a 50 odd grand motor seems fantastic.
So far the only info I have is the Autocar (?) stats which say it has 300 BHP and 302 lb/ft torque.
It does 0-60 in 7.3 and 0-100 in 21.7. Can that possibly be correct. I mean the S8 has only 50 BHP more and knocks 5 seconds off the 0-100. Is it really that slow with 300 BHP ?
What are the servicing costs, I mean my scooby costs me about 500 a year to service. The A8 will only need serviced once a year so it could even be cheaper than the scooby ?
Anybody driven one and have any comments.
Thanks.
Doofus.
Oh I've checked the Audi BBS but there is very little/no information.

Driven an S8, 420bhp (I think) ! 0-60 in about 5.5 secs ish', huge car with huge performance, too much for most, build quality is very good, servicing only done at specialist dealers and very expensive, second hand they are a bargain (relative to new cost)and will see off any BMW (except maybe the M5). Goes through petrol and tyres like a Subaru (except they are much bigger and more expensive), full of extras, AC,Cruise, leather etc..

I've raced a 4.2 quattro several times on my way home from work through north Derbyshire, and they seem quite evenly matched to a Legacy Turbo, both in pace and handling. The fuel consuption is probably similar too.
The reason the accel times are different is probably down to most 4.2s being auto boxes, whereas the S8 will probably have been a manual.
