I've also been looking for places that hire the new Mini.

Not many around, at least on the web...

The only one I've found that seems reasonable is

http://www.gtsbillingshurst.co.uk/gts/car_van_hire.htm

I spoke to them earlier, and it is £39 per day for a Mini One. However it was unlimited mileage, which is good. All of the other places I've found had mileage restrictions, that made it quite expensive.

Not very close to Essex though...

I actually found this one via my local Yellow Pages (didn't come up when I searched for "New Mini Hire" on Google). Have a look there - you never know!

Cheers,

Christian

How very strange, you would rather pay to drive one when you can test drive one at any Mini dealer, but you wont go near a BMW dealer?!?!?!?!

Get over it, BMW will be more than happy to let you test drive one and you will find the sales guys alot more forgiving when you want to see what it can do compared to other salesmen. I was encouraged to rag a 330ci SPort when I drove it and I found the sales guys very good and helpful, yes ok a little smarmy but they are salesmen.

If you live near Farnborough then pop down to Barons where they have a big Mini showroom and they will be more than happy to help, and let you test one.

I dont like the image that Ford saledmen have but it wouldnt stop me going to test drive the Focus RS.

The advantage of hiring is that you have the car for a day, but alot can be learnt on a test drive. Ive driven a Cooper and its a good little car, very very solid and feels like a much bigger car, I highly recommend having a go in one!. The Cooper S is the pick of the bunch but fully specced can get close to 16k!!

Try it, you might like it!!. I would have one to potter about in no problem, beats the **** out of any other car in its class that I have driven, and that includes the 206GTI !

Tom,

I just have this thing about BMs . I know they're great cars, but...well...they're very common. Suppose if I had the dosh I would have an M3.

Anyway I wanted to hire one, 'cos I don't want a salesman breathing down my neck, and I wanted it try it for a bit longer.

I know what your saying Nigel, BMs are not quite the marque they used to be as even pikies are driving them nowadays!

And it has to be said, they are everywhere!. I know of a few people that have been put off the Mini because its a BMW, hence my reply.

I wouldnt have anything other than an M Car from BMW, the 330ci is nice but the M3 makes it look stupid. It isnt unheard of for BMW to loan cars out for weekends, but I have to say that is if your a good customer to the dealer!

But as said, I find my dealer (Barons) very very good, Altwood in Slough nearly put me off BMWs for life but Barons have been very good to deal with in many areas, amybe I could get a loaner Mini for you!
