what next?

As im sure you are all aware, I tend to get bored very quickly with my cars (and girlfreinds ). I am hoping to sell my current EVO6 soon, however I am stuck with what to get next. My thoughts are with the following
1. TVR 4.2 Cerbra (360bhp) as toy and a runaround car for work etc.
2. Cossie powered westfield (330bhp) as a toy and a runaround car for work etc.
3. Cossie powere 4wd Dax Rush with 400bhp as a toy + runabout
4. BMW M Roadster (321bhp)
5. BMW M Coupe (321bhp)
6. BMW M3 EVO Convertible/Coupe (321bhp) + save a few ££
7. Scooby STIv6 Type R
8. TVR 5.0 Griffith + runabout
With regard to the 'toy cars im not worried about practicality as it would only be used weekends and evenings. Budget is around £20k and im currently leaning toward the *cough* M Roadster.
Any thoughts?
Cheers
Paul

Have you considered:
1) Honda NSX -- but apparently you need to spend 23k to get a good one (and it's certainly not worth 5k more than a Cerb)
2) Any sort of Porsche 911 that's in your budget? 911virgin.com have a 3.3 Turbo for <£20k

Don't like the M Roadster, but the M Coupe... different class. The Radster just looks so girlie. And of course the Z4's coming out which looks a lot better. Resale on the Z3 might drop.

M Coupe or TVR, both insane!!!
Get an early M Coupe and they did NOT have DSC (traction), smiles and new pants galore!!!!
Residuals on the M COupe will hold, there are so few of them and they are a future classic!

My thoughts..
1. TVR 4.2 Cerbra (360bhp) as toy and a runaround car for work etc.
- nice, very quick but very unreliable, very tricky to get within a mile of the limit and expensive to buy/run/insure
2. Cossie powered westfield (330bhp) as a toy and a runaround car for work etc.
- Again very quick (quicker than the TVR) but even trickier, and the secret to fun cars (Caterhams/Westfields etc) is weight. The Cossie lump is powerful but heavy.
3. Cossie powere 4wd Dax Rush with 400bhp as a toy + runabout
- quick in a straight line, but NOT a good handler
4. BMW M Roadster (321bhp)
- great car, but flexing chassis compromises ride
5. BMW M Coupe (321bhp)
- great, many handling guru's (incl SdB) favourite handling car, very thought can be a handful without traction control
6. BMW M3 EVO Convertible/Coupe (321bhp) + save a few ££
- OK, but more relaxed GT than sports car - certainly the lard-****, soft option of them all
7. Scooby STIv6 Type R
- Jack of all trades but ultimately master if none. Runabout + toy will give FAR more smiles
I was in the same quandry 18 months ago, and ended up with a Bike Engined Westfield as a toy (*only* 140bhp but only 400kg so has a PWR of a Diablo AND so little weight (and thus inertia) so it corners like nothing else) and a BMW 330d as a 'runabout' (now just been changed for a Merc ML430. Granted I had a £40k budget rather than £20k but the Westie only cost £12500 and can now be had for £10/11 leaving plenty for a sensible runabout
DO IT!!!
Oh and the Caterham R300 is £25k

Merkin - The very base, no options R300 is £23k (or £21k if you build it yourself), BUT that price doesn’t include Paint (costs £800-1200), or a windscreen (costs £800)
Add in to make it handle well you would want 13" wheels (another £1000 option, and you wouldn't be allowed on a Caterham Track day without an FIA Roll Bar (c£250). If you are going to do track days you really need a dry sump (£1000-1500) and most will tell you and LSD is another must on track (c£500)
So before going for anything like a 'luxury' option and OTR price is already c£28k
Great car, but not VFM when you look at a similar performance Westfield - mine has greater PWR, less overall weight, far more 'kit' and cost less than half what an R300 does The R300 is the better car, but not twice the car

LOL, the last thing im going to do is get involved in a cat vs westie argument, thats been done to death on the 7 bbs
I was offered an R300, dry sump, windscreen, FIA bar, anti cav tank, with the 13' wheels, for 22,750, with 1300 miles on the clock!

How many Porsche's do you see in a week???
How many M Coupes do you see....ever!!!!????
For the money, pound for pound the M Coupe beats any Porker for me of the same price bracket, what will 25k get you in Porker land?, a 993 which looks dated next to the 996 and the interior is **** poor. I love Porsche as much as anyone but they dont start being a lusted after car until they hit 40k + for me, the M Coupe looks 40k and drives like no other!!
As has been said, the M Coupe has been voted one of the best drivers cars by alot of big names, they are beasties!.
I will have one at some point!!

There may be one or two running issues, but if your in any sort of position to own a Cerb, you simply just have to do it. You have seen the Clarkson vid where a Cerb wastes a 911, viper, Vantage and an Esprit to name a few?

My dad owns a Cerb 4.5
SERIOUSLY INSANE CAR - Get a 4.2 - then sort it out a little (you will stay under 20K) Go to www.joospeed.co.uk . Joolz has made owning the Cerbera a not-too-expensive experience, certainly not 3K pa, and this is dads only car, it does the daily commute and weekend fun. For gods sake get a sports exhaust and De cat - you wont regret it at all, it makes a scooby sound a bit boring (and quiet). Seeing as you get through cars at a fair rate, the cerbera seems like the ideal car really, we have had ours for over two years now and are seriously having trouble working out what to replace it with. The only time this car is boring is in traffic, where the clutch is a little heavy - but once out onto a nice clear stretch it comes into its own. The handling is quite, hmm, "exciting", but again, Joolz can fit Nitron shocks and other goodies to make it handle very nicely. I cant recommend them enough, but make sure you dont get ripped off by dealers- they do f*ck all work and charge the earth for it. Since being looked after by joolz the cars been brilliant.
The reliability is a problem, but not if you go into ownership wide eyed, talk to joolz and you should be able to identify the main problems. It isnt as bad as people say if you get a decent one. Test drive a few and you should notice major differences between cars, go for the best you can and you wont regret it. In the last two and a bit years our car has cost sub 5k inc a fair few services/break ins (Dont ask, *******s took the Cd player). Insurance is 800quid on a driveway in birmingham, not that bad at all really.
If you have any further questions, dont hesitate to ask I check scoobynet daily.

The Cerbera is certainly an insane car, beautiful and monster quick. But don't be fooled by the Clarkson video - even Jezza has admitted the Cerbera he used wasn't exactly standard
For my money, the same cash will get you a Caterham/Westie that will show a Cerbera a clean pair of heels on a track, and in a straight line up to license losing speeds, AND give solid reliability and cheaper insurance, cheaper bills, more thrills......

Jezza thought it was a 4.5 :-) but theres more difference between each car than there is between engine size. What that cerbera had is anyones guess. Even so, try a cerbera - any cerbera- (except speedsix's, avoid at all costs) and you will realise how fast it really is.
As far as caterfields are concerned of course they will beat a cerbera round track, many would be faster towards the tonne, but after that its a whole different ball game. Of course the other problem is that a caterfield is a serious weekend fun car - I certainly wouldnt take that on any long distance trip if there was some other car I could do it in. The cerbera is more of a comprimise, but its more comfortable by a long way.
If looking for a track only car, by all means get one of those XTR's, stunning cars. But if you seriously want to use it on the road, the cerbs got to be the choice. We have only done two trackdays and one sprint in ours so far (time/money/family restricts). Will hopefully get it on track a bit more this year.
Go for whatever your heart tells you.
Life isnt a dress rehearsal.

You need to decide what you want the car for.
Davids Westfield and the Dax will absolutely crucify any of the cars you've listed, on track.
As you want it was a toy, surely thats the point????
Stop being such an attention seeking gimp - how the fvck can you compare some of the cars you've got to each other?
Only problem with the Westie and Dax - they're for normal sized people and you're fat.
