Erm - depends which brand surely? The new mercs S600's have circa 500bhp, RS6 444bhp, M5 400bhp, Passat W8 280bhp 
Not even mentioned porsche/maybach etc
But if you're saying 240bhp is a lot for a Golf (as in R32) then yes it probably is! Though won't feel all that quick as its no lightweight...
