dont anyone get on there high horse but im a scooby driver no more no less and a bit of a novice when it comes to upgrades. but can some one clarify this matter for me ?
i have read numerous posts about these kits you can get to turn cossies into <escort i love them ><sierra sh1te bag >500-600 bhp monsters.
is this because they are old news cars and it does not matter that much if they blow up ?
or another reason ?

with GREEN INJECTORS, 3 BAR MAP SENSOR, UPRATED ACTUATOR, HYBRID TURBO, DUMP VALVE, K&N CONE, STAINLESS EXHAUST SYSTEM.
SWIRL POT ETC. you'll be up in the 330 - 350s, the 4x4 lump in a 2wd works v well, as you get slightly more oomph outta the 4x4 lumps to compensate for the extra drive, but they all go bang eventually.

what and subaru's don't, think you will find that there is a lot out there for cossies as they have been around for a long time, you'll find that most tuned engimes either have a shorter life or if done badly go pop
recent threads on this board go along with that

LOL @ they all go bang eventually!
Nothing against the poster of the thread, but see "Another STi goes bang" thread on this page!
Cossies do go bang at some point cos they're 20 year old quality engines with decayed wiring, and knackered engine sensors..... he says, looking at his knackered cossie wiring loom!

I will have enough fuel and air on my new engine to flow over 700bhp, with standard internal's.
No scoob on earth is that strong, from a standard crank and rods, with cosworth pistons

I can't remember which company it is that is selling a 515 brake engine out of an ex touring car. It may be castle perfomance.
But basically. if you hand over enuff cash they can give you whever you like. But if you do get a 500+ brake engine built, enjoy it while you can, as eventually is will turn itself inside-out.

so who started this myth that a well built properly tuned 500bhp cossie will blow up?
they only blow up when idiots play with things they dont understand
i hear of more scoobs eating there engine than cossies

You can get kits for Scoobs to get upto 600bhp. Take a look at this website and they run Scoobs with 600+bhp.
The website with a 600+bhp Scoob is APS 600+bhp dyno
Probably cost a fortune to do but still it exists. Maybe Jamie from JW Racing could give us some idea of costs.

Hi,
Lets not forget that the cossie motor was designed for big power and de-tuned for the production cars. A well set up one running somewhere between the standard 200 and mad 500+ will go on for ages. I use my 320 Esc as a daily driver and it's been OK for 18 months /touches wood...

One of my very good friends had a scooby once, tried to run 300bhp by spending some serious cash on good tuning stuff, 3 clutches, 2 bottomends and a piston later he sold it now he wants to buy my cossie

boys boys boys..
I don't know why you bother with all this four pot wheezy ****e.
Get yourself a GTR and you get a lovely straight six and you can get 500 BHP at a mere 1.2 bar!!
Even skyline engines go bang if they are not treated properly or built well in the first place.
The scoob engine is ****e for tuning tho...fact. There are so few engines over 350 BHP.
Pound for ound I have to say the cossie lump is so much better for tuning...especially the RS500 block.
But then they are dag dustbins....
so get a skyline and problem solved.

Yeah i agree to buy a much more expensive car, and get in most cases a little more power, but power to money ratio is sh1te for a skyline!!
If you can afford a skyline why on earth would you guy one ?
Why not something else?
Must admit the name certainly reflects the price. lol
