For those of us who dont have a garage - I was wondering about getting a high quality car cover - but I'm torn between the obvious car protection factor versus the 'extra attention' the car may attract on the street..

Anyone any advice ?

When do you pick up your car?

I bought a car cover - but have never used it.

If you car is not clean when you put the cover on, the bits of dirt will scratch the paint work, and this will more if its windy.

Don't bother unless you will clean it every time you put the cover on.

Car cover for a 944 anyone?

Cool

Pick the car up at lunchtime today
A bit damp today - so will be taking easy !
Still torn with the car cover idea - Autofarm do a triple lined one with a soft internal cover - but I take your point about when the car is dirty etc...

Car covers! You cannot be serious.

Those things go with mud flaps, string backed driving gloves, blankets and cushions on the backseat, and life long membership of the National Trust.

I just got one, car doesn't move for weeks sometimes and since it sits under a tree I don't like the tree sap and leaves all over it, it's also convertible and gets damp after a couple of weeks sitting there so a car cover is my best option not having a garage. Does have to be clean, but that's not a problem for me personally.

Unhappy

I bought a £200 covercraft plain grey one last month, only to have it stolen off my Ferrari 348 the following week (respectable area, SW London). The B*ggers cut around the padlock - what use they would have for a tailored to fit 348 cover I have no idea...

So make sure you lock it on securely if you do get one, but don't think that will guard against the ******* around in this day and age

Yeah mine has a lock but it's not going to stop anyone from stealing it. My only hope is that the kind of people that own an MX5 wont go around stealing a tailored MX5 car cover, but I bet that's what you thought too
