Ronnie uses an N1 block. I think his is from an R32 (this block was fitted to all of the very first batch of R32's), but there is an N1 model of the R33 and R34 too and the N1 Block was fitted as standard to the R34 NUR edition too.

Ronnie's car is very quick with a T78 and around 700bhp, but watch out for faster skylines next year ![Wink](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)
My R33 however won't get that much power - but hopefully plenty of torque and at lower revs (well for a skyline)

![Confused](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/confused.gif)
There are differences between the 33 and 34 but once you look at serious tuning roughly the same things need doing to each.
Its actually easier to the 500 BHP mark in a 34 than a 33 as the standard R34 intercooler will manage at that power whereas the 33 one won't.
Perhaps the advantage of tuning a 33 is it is more (very slightly) aerodynamic over an 34.
In terms of engine the 33 and 34 are very similar starting points really (only the turbos are much different)

yeah, in japanese performance it said that he used a block from the r32 and one BIG turbo instead of twins amungst many other mods.
Bet the scoobs will still do him though!! lol

shame on you Slippy as a 33 owner you should know the 33 is the biggest - but not the heaviest (that title belongs to the 34)!

PB, you talk more crap on here than on GTR net mate ;-)
You should go out in ronnie's. It will scare the pants off ya...second 650+ GTR I have been out in and they are petrifying.
Ronnie's car uses the original 33 block, it has stage 2 HKS kit in it to take it to a 2.8 engine CC, it does run the T78, some leary cams, pretty much forged everything and it runs std transmission.
But i know it is having some new bits done to it and a refresh as 700 BHP is a lot of snort even for a GTR lump.
As for the R34 comment about getting more grunt easier is twaddlw. I don't know a 33 or 34 over 450 bHP that has the original cooler. They all get changed after stage 1. it is just not sensible to run the std cooler...I think it has more to do with the turbos, cams and set up that get you the grunt.

Nick - are you sure its me talking crap here ![Wink](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)
Yet again another bollocks post from you.
Ronnies car according to the information in the public domain runs an R32 block, Trust 2.7 kit and T78. From reading I believe he was going for bigger power soon so that could have changed now (but I don't know about that)
Standard R34 coolers are used in bigger power GTRs - according to details some months back Shins car (amoungst others) was still running a standard cooler with circa 540bhp...
If I write bollox its usually because I've read, seen or heard it elsewhere mate

Have to agree with Polar...
Mine's have only just started fitting intercoolers on their cars, but only now that they're seeing figures of late 500's.
I'm on 420bhp and running standard IC, going over 500 next month but haven't been advised to strictly change it.

yes it is possible to run 1200 bhp. check out www.exvitermini.com and you will see that mario is running over 1500 bhp at 2.5 bar on HKS 3240s. But it takes huge money and resources.
PolarB is that what you read in fast car about ronnies car? Probably is as that is what they printed!! utter bollox indeed. Do you think abbey are really going to let the world know their secrets?
As for the intercooler...mmmm ok so you run almost twice the bhp through a std part...ok in this weather but what about when you get to the summer...I would not risk it, don't be a pikey and ensure you have lower inlet charges. Cem I am suprised at you what with all the de niro you earn. get a big cooler for gods sake. It will raise the torque nicely at the top end as well.

NLW - As you can read from above, Mines (in Japan - where the climate is obviously different to here) have only started change the intercoolers in the high 500's on R34's as the R34 item is capable of flowing more than the R33 item (which needs changing much earlier)...
As for Ronnies car, I don't know it, have never seen it etc, but I see no reason to doubt what seems a well informed article (details of which were posted by Glen on the GTR bored) from Jap performance
'The Abbey men began by finding a GT-R R32 RB26 block, which is stronger than the later-model engines. This had covered around 60,000km, so it was well ‘seasoned’ and suited the job that it was being readied for. We could write a book on the things that Abbey do to the bare block in preparation for the build-up, but that would give away years of experience gleaned from all manner of motorsport connections. So suffice it to say that the block received three full days’ work before anything was inserted into or bolted onto it. A full motor build like this one can take more than two weeks to complete, but when you consider that Ronnie’s engine has now been together for over 10,000 miles, and taken some serious punishment during that time, you can see that it’s time well spent.
The engine wasn’t left at 2.6 litres, either. A Trust 2.7-litre bottom end was installed, increasing the actual capacity from 2568cc to 2731cc. It doesn’t sound a lot, but every little helps when you’re trying to get a big engine to spin safely to over 8500rpm and produce the neck-end of 700bhp. The kit comprises a steel stroker crank, H-beam conrods and bigger forged pistons that can cope with more revs and more boost.
Sitting on top of the modded block is an Abbey-tweaked head fitted with a pair of HKS Step Two 10.2mm-lift cams. The bottom of the motor is sealed with a large-capacity Trust sump kit, and there are plenty of other uprated Nismo and Tomei goodies holding things together in there - but the really interesting bits are bolted onto the outside.'
Though I'm sure a quick call to abbey could confirm if this was correct at the time of publication![Wink](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)
