would this be a good deal for the 3-door?

my mate was thinking of doing this deal with me. wanted to see if it would be a good deal or not.
Right, my 3-door, white, part history, 285bhp with 72k on the clock.
I give it to my friend and he gives me his Blue 2WD Cossie Saff with a proven 400bhp on tap, plus two grand.
Deal of the century? or should I tell him I'm not interested?

Astraboy, I saw your car at the Power engineering R/R day last summer when the car had done 66K and it was absolutely mint!!
IMHO I think that you should keep your car, swaps and part ex's only seem to be of the benfit to the instigator (in this case your mate) and your car I believe is worth more (even + £2k).
I know many a modified cossie owner who have shed a tear at the cost of owning and rebuilding these engines when they produce over and above 330BHP. Your car (with 274bhp if i'm not mistaken) is obviously a reliable car and the "REAL" enthusiatsts model in White, one of the better colours!
I see the swap as being a bit of a step backwards, like part exing a Series 1 RST for a more common Series 2.
One final thing to remeber is that should you do the deal with your friend, you will still be seeing your old car often. If you decide that your decision was the wrong one it will be all the harder to bare.
Good luck with your decision.

I had a 2wd cossie saph with only 320bhp - even then you could feel the body twisting under hard use in the dry. Make sure that it's been sorted out in other areas than just the engine.
Also you may find in the damp and wet uk you can't get the power down like a 4wd (obvious really)

the saf cossies shell is actually more rigid that the 3 doors...think about it.
personally, i wouldnt swap. your 3 door will not depreciate as long ure sensible with the mileage, whereas safs are still losing a bit. plus no one can call your car a 'fast taxi' as they could with a saf![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

hehehe, You're not going to believe this.
The deal is off. He has done exactly the same deal with another guy. curiously enough with exactly the same car as I've got.
He gave the guy his saff + two grand and got a white 3-door on standard alloys in return. His reason is that he would have felt guilty if we had done the deal and then two months later the bottom end went or something. Which I can understand tbh.
So now we have identical cars.![Cool](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/cool.gif)
I'm looking forward to summer already![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
