Very well considering it doesn't have a windmill to help it along.
But comparing a FWD hot hatch to a 4 wheel drive rally slag is like comparing Chalk and Cheese. BOth very capable but very different animals.

Feel faster that both the old and new shape scoobs in standard fashion. Similar in performance to a Classic and will pull slightly on a WRX.
When I say feel faster... if you have driven a classic scoob and then a classic Scoob Type R then it is more like the Type-R scoob. The VTEC and 6 speed box just make you feel like you are going realy quick.
With a decent setup CTR against a WRX, two on par drivers should stay together. In the Wet the scoob will come into its own.
Both good cars... hope this answers your question.

O-60 IS 6.4 not 7's. 0-100 is 16.2. Can't compare the two in a traffic light GP cause of the traction issue. But once rolling the CTR is more than a match for a STANDARD Scoob, IMHO.

I had one come steaming up behind me earlier, and I was cruising in my 03WRX PPP but needed to get past a couple of dawdlers a little way ahead up a very long straight hill. I start to spool up and glance in the mirror to see he is already straddling the line and thinking the same. I was probably doing 60mph at this point and should have dropped it into third but left it in fourth and kept my foot down anyway.
I pull out go past the dawdlers and keep my foot down and was surprised that I didn't seem to pull much on him at all. We went up to a *cough* fairly high speed and then both backed off as a shed-dragger decided to pull out of a turning 50 metres ahead.
I was two-up, he was alone, but I thought the PPP would have given me a bigger margin. As I say maybe I should have dropped it a cog at the off and that would have settled things

Disagree with the Cup thoery posted earlier... I had a run with one and it was equal to about 80 then the CTR pulled away...
I would have said the WRX03 PPP is slightly quicker although I have had no experience of this.

NO, honest, a cup is as quick as a CTR; most CTR owners agree, too. 0-60 is 6.5 and 0-100 is 16.5; lots of standard cups are doing sub 15 qtrs at Santa Pod and York.
But the question was about the CTR - they're a classy act, and I'd have one (I've got a cup).

Gary I agree the Cup is as quick as the CTR to about 80. As in my post above.... was disagreeing with the post that said the Cup is quicker.
Btw - think the Cup is a great car.... I just like the finer things in life!

Yawn. Nearly every ****ing post in Other Marques is "this is definately faster than that, cos I beat one" with no damn proof. How do you know the person is really trying??
The only way I would conclusively believe 1 is faster than the other, is if they both appeared side by side on top gear and they did a true test. And did it a few times.
It really is getting boring people, everyone has a tale of how they beat this and that. Ive done it too, so no excuse! When youre comparing 2 very very similar power output cars, there's going to be **** all in it, so who cares.

Although I like Top gear, I wouldn't take there road tests as FACT in a million years. Especially after a couple of (in my opinion) Fixed tests, including the Range Rover v's Merc SLK320 OFFROAD race!! LMFAO!! Plus the NOS powered Jag slaughtering a 911 Turbo etc. But yet it only did a 13.2 1/4 mile.....

Used to have a uk 98MY turbo, now have CTR,both cracking cars in my humble opinion, scoob was faster after de-cat but not stacks in it when thrashing CTR,CTR is great fun for the money.paul

Used to have MY02 WRX (destroyed when lorry hit it)and replaced it with a CTR, cheaper to insure and loads better on petrol.
Not sure if any quicker or any slower, feels about the same - unless wet then CTR wheelspin city !
Both good cars but just fancied a change from turbo cars.

I test drove a CTR before I plumped for my MY00 and found that although it revved like a barsteward, it didn't really have a decent enough kick up the a$$ to set your hair on fire!
BTW, after I bought the Scooby, I chose a Cup as my second car over a Type R and its definitely more fun.
I also work with 2 Type R owners who both agree the Cup is faster both in feel and actual speed.
In answer to your original question..... the CTR is a fast car, but there are faster and better out there.
