Octavia vRS Vs Focus RS

Id be very surprised if the Skoda wasnt doing the business...
Im obviously biased having one myself but a couple of the Skoda guys are doing it in sub 8.50 BTG times with nearly std/mildly modified cars so Id expect a 5k modded car to be pushing sub 8.30s or probably far quicker.
Its the driver / ring knowledge that makes the biggest difference though.

With 5 grand spent on it the Skoda would wip some ***!!!! For that you could have the Jabbasport 325hp turbo upgrade, some Brembo's and suspension upgrades. The Crocus wouldn't know what hit him with all that lot on a Tavia

I reckon it would depend who was driving
And I don't think you'd need to spend 5k, £2.7k should do it, so that would leave change for petrol, tunnel, hotel rooms, and a Jahreskart
Remap £385 takes it to 230ish
KW Variant 3 suspension £800
AP 4 pots with 335mm front and some 308mm rears £1500
Pure supposition of course

The only thing Triv forgot was that the car then produces so much grip that in my opinion you need smaller seats to hold you in place. I was flying all over the car in the bends and would have been better off in the footwell

Oh and if you consider how much it costs to but an Octavia against how much it costs to buy a Focus RS then use the change to mod the skoda. We know that the Octavias don't depriciate much too Probably a more sensible way to spend the money and less likely to get a tug from the law, get nicked and cheaper to insure.

£700 full stainless steel de-cat turbo back system +20 BHP
£400 Bluefin + 20 BHP
£200 Induction Kit + 10 BHP
No need for brake upgrade as the RS has Fantastic Brembros as it is.
262 BHP and around 300ft Torque For 1,300 quid, and that aint even scraping its potential.. But why go any higher when its a front wheel drive car anyway?
Id rather have the rs thanks very much...
Better reply now?

I did apologise at the beginning and said I was bored. Dear Djack in future we will let you proof read any potential new threads to see if they are suitable or not, alternatively apply for a job as a Scoobynet moderator and you can delete stuff you don't like.
Edited to say: Ah, thats a better reply. But you miss the point. The Focus is already 20 grand and thats our limit here.

Got to agree the thread is 100% speculation, Give anyone of us that has made comment 5K and I bet we would end up with very different cars. I would place LARGE amounts of money on the fact that some of the mod's would even have a negative effect on the car.
At the end of the day, and after trying, I now accept that the manufacturers, with motorsport's backing, make good cars, cars that the likes you and I cant really better with the help of an Demon Tweeks/Go Faster Bitz R-US.

Ah, but you can better them. Or 90% of the posts on this BBS would be pointless.
The Focus RS is closer than most to being perfectly set up out of the box, but that doesn't mean other cars can't be improved quite a lot by aftermarket tuners without spending a fortune.

Can anyone find any Focus RS Nordschleife laptimes?
One with someone like Colin McRae or Walter Rohrl at the wheel and one with Joey Deacon or Professor Stephen Hawking, then we'll take an average.

I reckon I could lap faster in a standard Octavia Rs than a standard Focus RS.
Anyone want to lend me either of these cars to test the theory?

Don't see why its a pointless thread - more interesting than most on here.... alot of people like to modify their cars
5k spent on the 4wd Octavia would make the ultimate stealth machine
£3000 ish for the 345 bhp Jabba conversion (demon tweaks my ****)
£600 + vat for 4 pot brembo - AMD sell them along side the Porsche kit which is £1300 + vat - not sure how much difference there is
Balance on suspension and upgraded clutch

Anyone care to share that info (if it exists?)

Purely hypothetical?
I reckon that mine on tarmac rally ledas (not as good as the custom KWs I now have), with 30 bhp less than I now have, without the APs I now have, would do a BTG time of, oooh lets think, low-mid 8:40s (even with T13 closed).
Go on, someone lend me a Focus RS

FOUND IT!
It is probably one of my favourite autocar articles, 10pages long and some excellant photography, they pick the RS over the lambo too
Ring times are
murcialgo: 7min 43.2s
Focus RS : 8min 34.1

There is no note of how the times were recorded, but from the map of corner speeds it would seem that the RS was not far behind in the corners but the lambo obviously crucified it on the straights.
The RS only has 212bhp remember, it doesn't even max out on most british racetracks, other articles suggest that the RS carries as much corner speed as a noble or porsche turbo on tight low speed corners (40-60mph)which is how it is so good on small tracks.

Nice one Cabinet Enforcer, now we need an Octavia vRS to crack that time to prove, in a highly scientific fashion , the theory. My guess is it might need a big turbo conversion rather than just a remap, but so much is down to the driver and handling.
P.S. Flicking through CCC the other day and they had a Focus RS with 286bhp, 19 inch wheels and huge AP Racing brakes (like the Brembos aren't enough already) What a beast, but total it up though and you are up to STi/Evo money.
Whats more they still couldn't crack 0-60 in under 6 seconds, although once rolling I should think it shifted.
