CTR v's Scoob
#1
Had an awesome blast at some not so legal speeds today with a UK spec Scoob. Came past him on the A15 towards S****horpe earlier this morning and he responded as I thought he might by giving chase. Had two proper blasts from 50 - *35mph and apart from me hitting the limiter in 3rd on the first go, I would say it was even stevens, he couldn't close the three car length between us and I couldn't pull anymore. Would of liked to of been behind and got another comparison (bit of slipstreaming, hehe) but never got the chance. Was definatly better than the other ones i've come up against though. It had a full Magnex on it and what looked like different seats in it. But unsure if, or what other mods it may of had, perhaps a filter?
What sort of BHP would it have been running with these mods do you guys reckon??
Quality blast though, pulled along side me at the roundabout and I gave the thumbs up, but he only managed a half hearted smerk. Wasn't any of you boys was it by any chance???

"Dont want a CTR v Scooby argument. I have driven both and love both. It just seemed to be a rather snotty and unnecessary reply to the original post"

Much of the performance related critism on these cars by members of this board are based on the narrow experience of dual carrageway driving (or whatever road that generally involves straight-line driving).
Type-R cars are expensive straight-line machines, but very cheap out-of-the-box weekend track cars. That's what CTR's are all about when you're not commuting within legal speed limits, but we have idiots on this board who like to go on about how torqueless or overrated they *think* a CTR is simply because it doesn't go 0-100 MPH in 8 seconds.
If you don't like my post, you know where to go.

I think Vtec Abuser is more of a Self Abuser, probably around 13yo.
FFS what do they teach you at school these days ?
Did you mean I would have liked to have been behind ?
BTW I like TypeRs, but not tossers, other than myself of course !

Who doesn't like CTRs? You would have to be insane not to like a car that revs like that- if you like performance cars that is.
I think that an Impreza is probably faster in most situations (based on the figures only) but I have to say who cares? Both are good car, both use very different methods to get good performance from small displacements.

Erm.. quite frankly I don't care which is faster, don't even have a scoob anymore, but who'd want to close a 3-car length gap at *35 mph ffs
(like speed as much as the next man, but *that* close?

BLOODY HELL, I won't bother posting next time. Just thought i'd share my experience with the rest of you guys, about what I thought was an enjoyable blast between two great cars. If i'd known I was going to get a English lesson from a TOSSER and a driving lesson of someone else then I wouldn't of bothered....
P.S. Don't recall me saying that one car is faster than the other at any point either. So why are some people's backs up?

Mr Abuser, sorry you didn't appreciate my English lesson
I think the problem is too many thread telling tales of how someone raced a Maserbishedese SKM300, or some such and beat it doing 137.5MPH. It is all a bit childish, just my opinion of course.
Edited because my English, well spelling actually, was not so good.

The point it you can only guess at the mods. The first thing anyone changes is the backbox. The car may still have one or two or three cats on it, so it may not be a full system but from the backbox it appears it could have. Filter yes maybe but very little bhp gain. Dump valve, no power gain at all. ECU mods unlikely to know if its a standard/remapped or mappable ecu. etc etc

Why do people read every thread and they say, boring, been done before etc? Does every one read every post on these boards or is it just me who skims through titles i think might be interesting? This is an open bb with freedom of speech for people to share/swop views/opinions and if your not intelligent enough to work out either from the title or the first comment what the threads going to be about so you can avoid reading it then i would keep quiet rather than open your mouth and confirm your lack of intelligence.

Cosworth is a very very serious guy...I mentioned the scoob being untouchable in the twisties and he got very emotional about the whole thing...He does have some serious technical knowledge though!

He won't talk at you unless your car can hold over 200lb/ft for a good proportion of its range though.
Checking my latest I'm in the club (2750 - 6500ish).
er great now I just need some earplugs

It's called re-education. I don't sound so nice only when someone makes a completely mis-informed comment and try to pass it off as the gospel truth.
juans and a number of other members here past comments imply that the natural aspirated 2.0 litre engines in the Civic and the S2000 are torqueless and therefore useless & undrivable in a sub 1300 kg body! When in fact, that 2.0 litre makes more damn torque than any other natural aspirated 2.0 litre, and more low end torque than even some 6 cylinder engines!
Just because I defend a car or two, it doesn't mean I am attacking someone elses preference or ownership of another car.

Coming here with an attitude to re-educate people makes you look rather sad I'm afraid. You need to drive a scoob in the wet twisties and all your education will go out of the window (if you leave it open!)

Sad or not, it beats passing on false information and mis-conceptions to others *anyday*.
