Cheapest way to do 200 MPH

Probably a fiddled with Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo...
I know a fella that had his tweaked and it'll eat 185+ mph in its sleep (ran out of bottle after that...)
Just curious... where are you gonna get to use it ?

Nah, go to the States and get some nasty '80s Corvette or similar for a handful of dollars. 8 litre engine (ish?), so no problems tuning it up to around 800hp, then quick trip to Bonneville salt flats and you're laughing.

Use, its hypothetical as I cant afford it (unless somebody has found a way for less than a couple of grand) and am a coward anyway !
Perhaps a 50 auction Metro and an army surplus JATO like the Urban legend/myth.
Calibra may be a good start as its so aerodynamic but you would have to junk all the mechanicals (oops Vauxhall got there first) and fit a huuuge V8 adorned with some Huuuuge turbos, I reckon 500 bhp should do it.

Clocked 173 mph in a stand position last Sunday, haven't learned head down yet but 200mph should be no problem then. Can't wait!

I know power will be an issue, but surely top speed is reliant on the gearing?
Ie if you max out the revs and still only make say 150mph, more power will do sod all cos the engine physically wont rev any more.
If teh car is unable to max out its revs then yeah more power will be needed to go against teh air resistance.
A 300zx looks mighty sleek compared to some cars so could imagine that to be a good base

Cheapest way to 200mph is a second hand superbike.
IMO a skyline is the cheapest way to 200mph IN A CAR by far.
can get well in excess of 600bhp on a stock bottom end, and ronnie got 200odd within 1.5miles at first TOTB with only about 650bhp and full interior in a heavy old R33, a lesser powered car should pull that, jus not within 1.5miles, esp in a lighter/stripped GTR.
yet to see a supra or 300ZX in the UK do that, supra got close at TOTB but that had lot of cash spent on it.

if you want aerodynamics and free comedy value, what about a citroen DS?
or a Renault Alpine GTA....5k sees you in a base 150mph much under rated monster!....tis french though and if you need to so much as drain the oil, youll need all manner of special unique nigh on impossible to find tools!....merde!
