Was watching that daft Sky proggie Rev Bobs Torque show the other night, think it was a repeat but as I dont make a habit of watching this dross I'm not sure.
Anyway, what cought my eye was the dyno shoot out between an Evo 6 and a Golf 1.8T. Was very surprised by the results, the Evo made 341 BHP on the rollers and the Golf made 340!!!
I thought a Golf 1.8T with a remap was only good for 220 - 230 ish.
Have I missed something?

Yes it was a blue Golf. Thought It must be more than a remap
So, next question. Is this reliable power, gearbox wise etc?
And how much

Andy,
I used to have a ZX Volcane 2.0i Top fun car even though it had frogs legs (and a super squeeky plastic interior). Never thought of tuning it though. Sold it but really should have kept it for a bit of track fun, never mind...
I haven't forgotten about the ally airbox thing, (no doubt you remember the ehem... cardboard prototype). When I get it sorted I'll drop you a line.
Cheers,
Ollie.

Cheers Ollie, although I don't know if I'd still want it as my fiancee and I are looking at selling both our cars and replacing them with one!
I love the look of the Fabia vRS, but I think she wants a Golf!!

Ah, i remember that golf (ive a picture of it at well lane), what a very sorted car, nice blue plumes of smoke on overrun, it nearly gave anyone in 10 foot of it carbon monoxide poisoning (it had around 330bhp then).
No doubt they have rebuilt the engine, as id say it didnt have long to live at that power then

I was in Bills Ibiza last weekend at Bruntingthorpe & can confirm it was just a bit nippy and pulled 160 through the lazer traps! huge power blew away new M3!! and Porker 964 also.
Not quite bye bye to me in a 490bhp 993 turbo though with a low 4 secs to 60 & got a whisker off 180mph through the lazer if ya interested- only beaten by those pesky much more areodynamic but less powerful 996 turbos with X50pack (450bhp upgrade)

Couldnt agree more Fen, the only place for water on a 911 is in the washer bottle
I must admit despite my beliefs, I do quite like GT3's though, despire the fact they are in my experience no quicker on track than either 964 or 993RS's and that they cook their brakes far too easily. Its just that in yellow particually they just look so damm good!

Do Seat still make the 20VT version, had a look on their website and it was full of 1.4s and Diesels (which looks a bit useful itself)
What is the Ibiza based on, Polo or Golf, is a standard 20vt quicker than a 1.8T Golf ?

The previous shape Ibiza Cupra (20VT) was a bit of a half breed, sort of an extended Polo with room for bigger engines.
Obviously lighter than a Golf so quicker with 156bhp as standard.
I think there is going to be a 180bhp 20VT version of the current Ibiza to be called a Cupra R, but it looks really crap, barely any less hideous than the normal Ibizas.
