Just read this on ctr bbs! How fast are they??
dave
I've always wanted an M3. I perceive it to be a seriously kick-*** car. However, matey who overtook me today did not impress. He overtook me on a dual carriageway just before it became single at very silly speeds. Then we pondered along behind other traffic at about 40mph (in a 60 ) until there was another piece of DC, when we both floored it.
Between 40mph and 100mph+ (if it were legal) and over nearly a mile he gained about a car length - and we were both seriously giving it welly.
If an extra £34k only buys you one car length in terms of performance over these speeds, I don't think I'll be getting one.
Damn - a dream shattered!

Had a CTR for over a year and tried against an M3 on my drive home from a night shift.
The dual carrageway was empty apart from me and the M3. We came out of a roundabout side by side doing 40, I looked over and dialed in 6k and floored the CTR and changed just before the limiter in each gear.
The M3 vanished never to be seen again.
Quicker than a CTR by a mile cos the M3 driver was trying, and so was I.

I have an MY03 WRX with the PPP kit = 265bhp, and without wanting to dis the CTR its quicker by quite a margin in a straight line from 40-100. I came up against a new M3, doing the same speed, as the other person and he absolutly murdered me.... will not try that again unless its wet and there are a few bends.
The guy was either not trying, or he was full of BS!!!!

From another one
Tell me about it! Recentley I cam across a 911 that thought he would show me how fab his car was!
Yes his car was fast but he could not loose me!
when I got close enough to see what model it was(as my eye sight isnt good ) I saw that it was a 911 Turbo
I was totally shocked!!!!! I couldn't believe it!!!

Quite funny really that people think 'the other car' is always trying to race them. The driver of the 911 Turbo mentioned above probably didn't even realise the CTR was trying to race and was just going at a comfortable pace while the CTR was on the limit...
Don't these guys read car magazines and realise how much better some cars are than theirs?

This thread brings a smile to my face. CTR's racing 911's and M3's and actually THINK they are keeping up. With a filter and exhaust that guy should whip the M3's **** eh? hehe, I don't think so.

I beat a McLaren F1 tother day... I was jogging at the time, and I'd sprained both ankles the night before, whilst wrestling to the ground a 6'8" mugger... anyway, as I was saying, there I was, jogging along, when this ponce in a £650,000 McLaren F1 pulled up along side me at the lights... who was I to refuse a race?
Lights went green, I took off, and he pulled over to the curb, and parked up, so blatantly bottling for the race. 0-60 in 3.2 sec, my ar$e... he'd no chance. Who needs a CTR (or a Scooby) when 2 legs serve the purpose just as well? I dunno... people these days...

CTRs are very over rated in my honest opinion, i've raced two different mates in their CTRs in the WET in my MR2 and spanked them both, I took the **** something chronic they both when on about how it'll be different in the dry??? eh front driver harder to go quick in in the wet opposed mid engined???

At the end of the day all these type of posts are completely worthless as even between the hallowed M3 and a CTR on anything other than a straight road it all comes down to driver skill and how far they want to push it.
You never know how hard someone else is trying or how good they are behind the wheel and that makes more difference than anything!
tiggers.

Heres a rediculous comparison:
I Kept up with an M3 in a B-reg 1.3 POLO
Reasons for racing: none - he was in the way hogging right lane. I had finished work after being forced to do some overtime 'tll 8:00pm and just wanted to get back home and have some tea. He did'nt like me out braking him for an island in the left lane
So off he went. Problem was he just couldn't drive the car...left me for dead on the straights but on every bend he slowed too much and I caught up as I knew the bends and have no problem going round them. He must have though WTF does this polo keep catching me up? !
It was well funny.
Moral: A BMW M3 being driven badly can get beaten by any hot-hatch or cold-hatch for that matter Same applies to scoobys or any other fast car. Thought I'd just point that out

People love writing loads of BS about their cars and CTR owners are some of the worst IMO. I've driven a mates N reg M3 and there's no way on earth that 'any' CTR, supercharged or not, could whoop one even in stock form.
I think the trouble stems from the fact that the CTR is a very accomplished hatch that, on paper, is faster than most other hatches, coupes and some suposed sports cars. This unfortunately makes 'some' owners think that they are driving the fastest car on the planet thus you get some ridiculous claims.
I personally think my CTR is a cracking motor but at the end of the day let's get real. It's only a tuned up shopping trolley.

I think it's only when you've been in a truely 'fast' car that you can appreciate what your car is capable of. I've been in a Jag XKR, I kid you not I had a sore neck the day after, it pinned me into my seat so much. I've also been in a E46 M3, if these people had had such experiences they wouldn't spout such crap!

Well, the proof is in the title "CTR whoops M3", its as if the owner of the CTR was shocked himself. I havent seen a thread "M3 whoops CTR" - if its too good to be true, then it probably isnt true.

I have a CTR, although they are quick and nimble cars i think that the makority of CTR owners know that they are no match/contest/same league as an M3 or a 911. Fair play to have a race against them just rest assured if u win the M3 or 911 wasnt even trying and probably never seen him hehe.
These types of post are quite rare on the civictyp-r forum thankfully and usually get flamaed immediatly by the rest of us, check out some saxo and clio forums for some real pipe dreams
