I have a metro
I have added after market engine parts so that now it produces over 400bhp, after market shocks/wheels/brakes, seats, ect, gear box, .........
Come to think of it the only thing metro is the badge.
BUT ITS A SUBARU BEETING METRO
I find this train of though simply idiotic, just my opinion, but it IS NOT A SUBARU BEETING SAXO, not even in the slightest.
Its a highly tuned, presumably, race spec car, the badge has little relevance when these cars are so individual and unique. Vast amounts of efforts and money are spent on it to change its characteristics.
Think about it....its a contradiction in it self, its tuned and improved so that it NO LONGER BEHAVES LIKE A SAXO.
You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to realise that you can tune almost any car to beet a Subaru,, but it aint a saxo, Its a tuned saxo...BIG difference
Its been said once, and it’ll be said a million times,
Comparer like for like
I just don’t fall for the ordinary car beets Super car mentality, Only to look closer and see the massive amounts of time and effort placed on the car by professional tuners or enthusiast to create such a good car.
If anything your belittling their efforts.
All my opinion of course, and all light hearted. but then again I`ve never conformed to common thinking.

The cortina didn't do a proper run, it blew a pipe in the engine bay and it was coasting when it went over the line, it can go quite a bit faster I would think. The owner is a top bloke too.

The underdog so to speak. That is the point - people are not saying here is a std Saxo that can beat any Scoob, therefore all Saxo's can. The point is, its a road legal Saxo (that may look std), so therefore it is a Scoob/Evo/TT (whatever...) beating Saxo.
As for the amounts spent, my 205 didnt cost the earth to convert, looks std and will surprise much bigger motors thats the point.

More to the piont a wrx is a standard car but is a wrc hero were as the saxo is well.
just a saxo.
so if the argument is like for like then it would only be fair to compare the saxo with a uk non turbo saxo.
just my 10p

What a surprise Dreamweaver never thought that we all had fast FWD cars before scoobies and may have a 'valid' (as opposed to 'Just an') opinion
Which one was it then?

Far from it dream weaver
I don’t own a scoob, I own a tuned megablade, a 900cc engine car, But I know what your saying,it’s a good point and well put, and in many ways I agree. It is nice to see the underdog win.
The flaw in the underdog argument in this example is that I suspect (this is pure speculation of course) that there was more money/effort/resources at the disposal of this car, than some of he others, so based on this criteria, I’m not sure it could be considered an underdog…but the ideal is a sound one.
We all love the underdog

whats everyones problem??
a few people of here seem fine and have emailed me for his spec (sorry i havnt got it yet, i will soon!)
Si's VTS looks completely standard, its a 1.6 16v VTS engine running a DP motorsport turbo conversion.
why cant people just be impressed with someones achievement for once?

Catflap,
your train of thought is spot on.
Shame most on here don't think the same when their tuned scoobs beat xxx supercar
