My choice at the moment is the Zed, however still assessing a JDM STI in terms of monthly cost and insurance, and then make a decision. Things for the Zed, the insurance is less than half of the STI, it still as 280 gee gees and is also very highly tunable. Reality would be i would love a Type 25, but cannot really afford it or do it justice, not convinced the WR1 is worth it, hence looking at the JDM STI (DCCD and all) and a bit cheaper...

As for highly tuneable, the full nismo kit only gives 300bhp, and a supercharger still weighs in under a Supra with CAT's removed............
Mate has one, runs the UK Z site, nice car, but still ultimately lacking (IMHO).......

The STI is not actually light weight is it, nor the WRX for that whats the difference 30 -40 kilos.
In regard to being able to tune it, i am reliably informed that by using a different ECU (middlehurst), exhaust and air intake you should be able to get 320 bhp.. Of course you can go mental and either turbo or supercharge it (which is a few stages pass tuning i know) and get about 370 BHP - 400+
So horses for courses, and as for a Supra hmmm lets not go there ..need something out of the showroom
Cheers

If Middlehurst have given you a figure of around 320bhp it is very likely to be a conservative estimate.
I have dealt with Middlehurst for 4 years now, since buying an R34 GTR from them from new and letting them loose on the engine. I paid for the Middlehurst "400bhp" upgrade and never looked back. As it turns out, my car made over 450bhp on the dyno at Abbey Motorsport. I would say go for it, the Z looks a class act and Nissans are very tune friendly and reliable.
Good luck
Steve
