Diahatsu Copen - OK to live with ?
Hi All,
Missus and I test drove the Copen yesterday and I must say what a fun little car. It would be bought for the missus to go to work in but we would keep our normal car for holidays/shopping/boring stuff.
Has anybody actually owned/used a Copen for more than 10 minutes (length of our test drive) and are they OK ?
Not a cheap car at £14.5k (with options) but so much fun and hey, you only live once.
Cheers
Ian

Thank you both for your useful contributions to this thread.
As usual, a simple thread asking a simple question is spoiled by a bunch of idiots in mere minutes.
Go on, give yourselves a pat on the back. Well done.

Jeez, chill out
OK, here's a more definitive answer:
I think for the money there are many, many better and more fun cars out there including some that are more practical and will have better residuals and be easier to sell. And that look less homosexual.

I think Diahatsu should be applauded for daring to make such a car, my only concern is it looks 3/4 the size it should.

You could have an MX5 from EU for 13.5k-ish or an MR2 for 15.5k. If you really want the folding tintop, 206CC is around 14k, and the new Vauxhaul Tigra is not far away. Fords StreetKa is only 12k and MG TF from 13k. What about a 2nd hand S2000, Z3 or TT Roadster. Possibly even Elise or VX200's will be in the same bracket !
If you get a Copen, remember you'll need a pair,
....one for each foot

If you are not bothered about a new car then consider a Suzuki Cappuccino, similar mould. 650cc, rear wheel drive, turbo, hard top convertible with 3 stages of convertibleness (if thats a word ). Saw one in Autotrader for 3k but it had 100k on it. You can get good ones for 4.5k-6k.
Lovely little car, quite roomy in the cabin but luggage space is poor, even worse when the roof if in the boot.

for their (rather poor) message board.

I think they look great.
Was thinking of doing something about one myself, but I don't think it'd be the best car for motorway cruising.....
If I could find a good excuse to buy one, I would.
