Clio 182 update
On the way home tonight, I spotted a guy cleaning a clio 172 i pass on the way to work each day. So i stopped and asked him about the car. He let me sit inside and showed me around it. The gold fleck black colour is lovely although I'd imagine it'd be a pig to keep clean.
Loved the interior, nice snug car, good stereo, all the toys you need. So the 182 should be all that and more. So time to clean my STI 5 and get her photod and on the market.
I remeber a few of you talking about getting 182s and one guy had just collected his. Any comments on the car etc?
Cheers cal

What with..
paint defects (painted over oil/water so it lifted after a month!)
suspension defects
water leaks into cabin
loose trim
constant rattles
alarm going off @ 2am
Rear body kit warped
the list goes on...
Just hope they are better now cos mine was shocking.

i collected my 182 a little over a week ago, first impressions (with cup suspension pack):
performance, pretty strong, really kicks @ 5000 revs when it comes on cam. lots of torque steer with your foot to the floor but thats because the car has soo much feel. can be a touch wild in the wet.
handling, i tried both cup and non cup suspension setup. for £200 you'd be mad not to go for the cup suspension tbh, it transforms the car.
not alot of body roll and the turn in is better than anything i've driven, the car begs to be driven hard. only criticism would be on uneven roads it can be a handfull at speed.
dont want to say too much as its so new its difficult to be objective.
build quality = its a renault, need i say more. tbh at the moment it seems well put together and the doors close with a thunk rather than a clang.
for the price £12500 uk car with extras brand spanking new, i can't complain for the smiles per mile.
economy: not as good as expected but hoping it improves, 29 when ragging it about 32-33 on commute. averaging 300 miles from a tank of opti which costs £35 to fill.
i'll post some photos if you'd like but its scruffy after a country run in the rain last night.

Drove one this week - didn't like it. Build quality is not good, it rattled quite a bit and try as I might, I just could not get a comfortable driving position.
On the positive side, if you push it its brilliant and it goes a bit too

i had a 172 for two years and had nothing to complain about , no rattles , creaks or build quality problems ! must have been a one off unless people don't say when the going is good !

Fuel consumption and performance really improve over first 5 k miles. My cup started at 33mpg on work run when I first got it and now averages 42/43mpg.
It has also been trouble free. It does suffer a few trim rattles on cold mornings until the car is warm (so did all my scoobs)but apart from that its been trouble free and a joy to own.

I get 33 MPG average in the Cup commuting, I did think it would be higher than that to be honest, but this reassures me:
Up to 1600 miles now and it's breaking in nicely

I had a 172 Cup, fantastic hot hatch that gave me no trouble at all from new, and had power and handling that was so accessible and fun that I still miss it!!
The 182 is supposed to improve on it in every way, so must be a wicked car.

Cool, mostly music to my ears, will have to phone about and look for the best quote for one, but I loved my 306 GTI6, love hatch style handling and the 182 should be better all round, Cheers for the input chaps,

Ive got one. Nearly kept it three months now which is nearly a record for me.
Build quality is OK with a couple of very minor sweaks (but Ive had £40kAudi's and BMW that have matched it)
Not had to go in for any attention yet.
Its a mega cheap hot hatch and damn good value for £12.5k. Not close to a Scooby performance wise, but great fun and the torque steer also raises a smile.
Found the car very stable in the wet as well.
Tried the Honda Type R before I bought it - prefered the 182. Have already owned a Cupra R and Cooper S - prefer it to both of them as well. However you can get nice results from a Cupra with a simple chip.

I've just got a clio cup too (had an MY03 PPP before) and it all seems good so far. Handles and goes well, all the signs are promising. Some squeaks already but the 205 GTI one of my friends used to have did the same and tbh you didnt care when you were driving it!
Go in to ownership with your eyes open (read the Cliosport forums for a bit) and you wont be disappointed IMO.
