Hello all
A friend of mine is looking for a car with the following specs:
max. 1000kg
around 300bhp
max. 20'000£
I keep thinking about it, but I just don't find a car that fulfills these borders?
Can anyone help?

Is that a new car or a used one he's after? About the most obvious candidate I can think of is a secondhand Vauxhall VX220 Turbo with a bit of aftermarket modification to bring the power up to his target.

Cossie Westfield
TBH if its 300 bhp/ton he's after most mildly tuned Zetec/duratec/Vauxhall/K series engined Caterfields would fit the bill for half the price.

There are plenty of Caterhams that would meet your mates requirements. I spotted an R400 (as in 400 bhp per tonne) for about 17K and Blackbird for about 18K, both in the classifieds on Pistonheads. If your mate is feeling brave (and slightly nuts), there is also an R500 for sale at about 28K ![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)

Do what I did, and get the ZM3 !!
Yes it weighs more than 1000kg, but it's less than 20k and you'll get more than 300 Hp !
Plus the fact that it'll start everyday without nonsense and you'll always recover your image when you plant your foot at a set of traffic lights !!

I know a chap selling a mk2 Honda CRX 1.6 VTEC with turbo conversion.
Weighs in about 980kg (air con removed to make way for the turbo)
278bhp (at the wheels) @ PTS Rolling Road
0.65bar of boost with 20 shot of Nitrous
He was looking for about £6k for the car!

I assumed so as well, but there's no harm in 'thinking outside of the box'! ![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Then again, when I spoke to the owner of the CRX and asked how he gets traction off the line, he pointed at two wheels on the back seat of his car and said "I set fire to those!"![EEK!](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/eek.gif)
His car was in Redline recently where it got the fastest 0-60 time in the FWD shootout. It even beat Andy Nichols' (sp?) Rover!!
Fair enough the Rover got a better 0-100, quarter mile and top speed, but it was pushing out 400bhp!

lotus esprit s4, 264bhp standard for a few hundred quid it can be chipped to give anywhere from 280-330bhp, the chips come in stages so you can have lower bhp but more torque or higher bhp but not as big torque increase. also rare car with fantastic handling and stunning looks.
pick up the car for 15-18k.
standard car will do 0-60 in below 5secs, 0-100 in about 11secs, 170ish mph so imagine the performance after a chip, induction kit and exhaust. maybe even money left over for a hybrid turbo then it'll absolutely kick ****
