Exclamation Rip off?

A work collegue of mine has just called me to say she'd be in late tomorrow as she has had a puncture. She popped down to her local tyre shop, who always "help her out", her words not mine.

They've told her the 2 rear tyres on her N reg 5 series 520 will cost her £280 for the pair, and they're expensive because they're "metric"? WTF? Anyone have any idea what they're talking about, and does anyone know what size tyres go on a N reg 520?

Ta.

Yup many BMW's of that era had metric wheels/tyres.. Most people fit aftermarket wheels as it's cheaper than buying those TRX tyres

Don't you mean 1975? WWSD 1985 is C reg

Tell a lie...some 90's 5 series did have metric rims, so yes - pricey, maybe better off going to a scrap yard and find a a BMW with some decent imperial wheels on.

Tell her to give you the size as written on the tyre and you can get a price online for a quick comparison. The metric tyres on my old montego were dear(ish) but no where near that dear.
