Everything I have read thought, slates the nasty tip-tronic rip off gear box, but they did do a rally version in red, with bleeding great white alloys, which has a gear box, and is suppose to be pretty good, think they come with free insurance as well - handy!

Approx £180 a month with no insurance, is quite a good deal for first car or cheap hatch, if only they did free insurance for the 182

Yup, that'll be the C2 GT
Available in Black, Red, Silver and Blue. Limited to 2500 models with manual gear box, all the fancy but usually not needed crap thrown out, so a bit lighter than the VTR.
Does 60 in about 8.5 seconds (and thats with 2 gearchanges) so quite nippy and loads of torque.

In terms of out and out value, I can't see anything else on the market that campares. To get a car all in that can be thrown about for less than £200 a month is pretty darn good. The 182 which is defo a much better car is only a few grand more but then you've got a) higher insurance group and b) you actually have to pay the insurance. But the fact the Citroen acutally feel the need to sell their flagship special edition super-mini-hatch with free insurnace speaks volumes about build quality and after market re-sale value!
