Best diesel esate for 5k ish!!
Hi guys, looking to trade the wifes tired old 205 diesel in for something a bit newer and bigger, thought i would start here and ask what is the best diesel estate for around the 5k mark, dont mind going a bit over budget.
was thinking of:
pug 306 hdi
passat
vectra
etc etc, so any ideas would be appreciated, air con would be an advantage but not essential

ould knock the vectra off the lisat asap. nothing like depreciating faster to 0 than any of them.
Skoda ocatavia would be the smart move. 306 diesel only look at the hdi versions the older 1.9 is a bit tractorish in comaprison to newer models.

Its just the hatchback but I reckon space is cramped and its been a bag of Sh*t reliability wise - exhaust kept falling off near the cat, bushes have gone and loads of electrical problems, water pump failure etc. Think its mostly due to it being the first load with the hdi engine in.
On the plus side servicing is pretty cheap and we manage around 55mpg if pushed...seen 630 to the tank the other week..just dont go near Ar$$ld Clark for servicing
Just make sure u get a mint one with warranty !

Just had a test drive in a skoda fabia 1.9 tdi and i must say i was impressed, looks like i may have to save a few more quid to get one though Checked out the peugeot dealer too but unless you want to buy a 206 or 307 they are not interested
My money will be going to skoda, nice people to deal with and the place was packed
