Default Darn car alarm problem....

My dar's car alarm keeps going off when he aims the hose at the windows (when washing) or when it rains hard.

We've checked for leaks and theres nothing obvious.

Any ideas what driving it crazy under these conditions?

Cheers
Frank

If it's like the celicas - if you press the "lock" button on the remote 3 times it will disable the interior protection on the car.

Our celica has a similar problem (everytime I wash it!). It's due to go in to be sorted under warrentee. I noticed that the Celicas does not use ultrasonic detectors for the interior (well I couldn't find them anyway - and I used to fit car alarms!) And after a bit of looking around I presume the sensitivity can only be adjusted by a dealer or a garage which has diagnostic tools than can interface with the ECU.

I don't know if the prius is the same, but I'd presume it is.

Ditto!

it was going off at the same time this morning.... 12 times in all!

tried remotely turning it off but because its CAT1 it re-arms after 30secs if it detects the doors haven't been opened. My dad had to nip out and get soaking in the end to open a door
