where to put the oil....205 gti.
hi, i bought my 1.9 205 gti at the w'end........and very happy we are too.
no manual though.
i feel a bit thick but neither me nor my neighbour can work out where to top up the oil.
please could someone put me out of my misery and circle or arrow where the oil filler cap is on these photos.
cheers matt

Remove the black cap (with 2 hoses going to it) between the inlet manifold (large alloy thing on the front of the engine) and the large air hose which runs front to back (Approx. half way across and third of the way up on the 3rd pic.). You'll prob. need to twist this, and may need to prise off with a screwdriver.

Quick tip for a free but massive improvement to the gearshift on a Pug...
Almost every Pug GTi I've seen has a loose bolt at the point where the gear change linkages join to the bottom subframe behind and underneath the engine.
If you lie under the car you'll see a bar coming down from the shift assembly ending with with a nut and bolt through the subframe - tighten the nut (think it was 13mm) and the free-play in the change mech will be hugely reduced.
Have fun, Ian

I've had 2 1.9 GTi's over the years and they was both right pigs to get the oil cap off, i broke the plastic lug off of the cap more than once, i always suffered with Water getting into the metal gauze inside the cap and ended up with the "Mayo Look" gave the impression that the head gasket was gone!
