hmm bit strange this as i was expecting to get a pasting, new shape audi a3 2.0 fsi as it said on the back, reg was xx04 XXX.
up me **** on the a10 coming back from cheshunt, both pulled up at the lights, now my car is by no mears a performance car, but youv got to give credit to the 2.0i cav.
my car g reg cav 2.0i 8v , hes was a blinding looking new a3 2.0fsi.
and ill be honest here, we both hammered it from the light's, and i was thinking well im goona be beat for sure new car vs 15 yr cav?.
and ill be dammed we was neck and neck to about 70 mph, and i was reeling on him ?
as ive only just got the cav 2.0i , it feels potent but surely i could not have done so well against a new audi?
or is the cav 2.0i really that nippy ?.

My Dad has an F reg 2.0 Cavalier. He's always going on about how quick it is, and how much torque the 8 valver has!
Anyone got any performance figures for this car?

I beat a porsche in my mondeo once - I know he was trying I could sense it. He bottled it at about 90. May have been the snow and ice that did it. It was school chucking out time so I didn't want to go to fast in a 30 so I kept it under 3 figures

Shock horror, 2 litre car stays with another 2 litre car in race
I ran a 2 litre Cav as a company car ages ago, book specs if I remember rightly was 0-60 in 10.3. A3 in theory should be a tad quicker but being brand new the engine would be tight.

Upto 70mph a Cavalier will keep with A3, after that aerodynamics and the higher power of the A3 will see the Cav losing out.
The 0-60mph time of both cars is circa 9 secs, so it will be head to head off the start provided both are trying.

Modern cars are a hell of alot heavier than the equivelants around in the late 1990's
That's why a modern Golf Gti needs twice the hoursepower to achieve what the MK1 did.
A Cav with no doubt is alot lighter than an A3. The A3 does have the horse power advantage (IIRC 2.0 8v cav is 130bhp), but it loses out on PWR. Also teh cav will benefit from better response as it's not dogged by emissions control and lean burn engines (nice and green, but not good for even power delivery).
Although in the twisties in a Cav, the A3 will have you, the only thing a cav can out handle is a crude oil frieghter.
