Traction control light staying on
Car is 1995 Omega 2.5 V6 manual.
Sometimes the TC light comes on and stays on (usually after full accelleration in 1st/2nd gear or when rear wheels lose a bit of traction). Doesn't happen all the time and pressing the TC button on/off doesn't make a difference once the light is on.
Turn the engine off and back on resets it and it works OK again (button works correctly too).
Guessing a faulty sensor maybe. Anyone any ideas on what to check. Given the fact that it doesn't happen often and the car being 8 years old I can live with the problem but wouldn't mind fixing it if it's easy.

The traction control motor on the Vauxhall V6 can sieze, which will bring the light on. This motor acts on the throttle body, and reduces the throttle if the wheels are spinning at different speeds.
Best bet is to try and free it all up as a new one from Vauxhall is around £500.

Had the same prob on a Calibra V6 that I had, agree with Steve about the motor on the TC arrangement on inlet plemum. I fixed this by taking the whole arrangement apart and cleaning up the commutator, as the motor only turns through 90 degrees the brushes soon get dirty. taking the the thing apart is a bit tricky and you need to mark everything as it needs to go back in the same locations but a free fix is better than £500 !!! I understand this is a common prob on Vauxhalls.
