My car - what do you think??
I don't want this to be a slanging match or a competition. Just wondered (as I'm a little bored today) what people thought of Porsche 944 Turbos??
I've had mine for 6 months and it just seems to get better. Been Nurburgring twice. 120mph there, 120mph back. 12 laps (14 miles per lap) of thrasshing. All that is required is a litre of oil.
You gotta respect that for a 14 yr old G reg.

My pop bought a 944 LUX back in 1984, was the first performance car I drove. Always liked the looks and loved the dynamics. Front engined RWD is where it's at. I haven't driven the Turbo, so I am biased by reviewers who pretty much unanimously claim that the S2 n/a is the 'better' car...and having 2 300 BHP cars, one turbo'd and the other n/a I can start to appreciate the n/a arguement more.
I'd have one if I wasn't such a snob. Shame about the badge 911 owners look down on you, non Porsche owners think you are a ****** , so ultimately you can only impress Audi and 924 drivers
Still, 944, top motor, ageless good looks. Saw a very low milage mint condition turquoise S2 at Shirleys Porsche a few months back...seriously considered it.

S2 is considered better. Except the lag and hairdryer engine noise I cannot fault it. It's better than my previous car ; e36 M3 Evo....IMO.

That goes without saying. No good in the real world at all.
Grip is rubbish, or do I mean handling....oh I'm all confused. Aren't they the same?? No, err....oh right. Bollox to it I'm all in a tizzle.

Wrong reply. Should have said "not a problem with my driving"

Part of being a competent driver is to learn how to control a powerful RWD car on the limit in the wet. There is nothing so satisfying as a four wheel drift under complete control such as as a well designed car will achieve.
Great car Senior, as Tel says, hang onto it.

Irony and humour all rolled into one reply. The handling is better than an Impreza. Just ask Tiff.

It is a good one. 78k miles, FSH the works. Not an ounce of rust anywhere. Aircon works a treat to!!! After 15 laps I'm doing 9.30 laps of the Ring. Still learning it of course.

I know mate. You are correct in what you say and its that which I like. People generally haven't a clue about them which suites me. I'll have over 300bhp soon!! Yippee.

Nice car - and it evolved into the 968 which is considered to be the best handling car of the day and one of the best handling cars ever.
The S2 is a lovely looking thing and the torquey 3.0 makes it a truly exceptional piece of kit and a much better and faster point to point punt than a 911 of similar vintage.
It's better to have people diss your car when they know absolutely nothing about it than spend a load of money on a Z3 or a TT when you'll be dissed by people who really know about cars as well as everyone esle!!

944 is better than a 911 because:
# Its faster.
# Handles better.
# More practical.
# More refined.
944 is not as good as a 911 because:
# Its not a 911

ah-hmmm! 944 was better than the 911 of it's era.......
Agreed though, wonderful car. Nissan 300ZX was the car that knocked the 944 off the top performance coupe perch..them were the days.

That gets even more respect
Beats a honda insight anyday
I do like the shape of the 944 though. Don't see that many, but they're very nice cars, 14 years old or not
Not the age that matters........it's what it'll do

Exactly. It's a Porsche, nobody gives a **** about the age unless you're a footballers wife.

i maybe and probably am wrong but the fact uve started a thread asking for opinions on a car u *already* own may suggest u have mixed feeling about some aspects of it. image? ive driven one it was poo but i think it was fooked as they are supposed to be quick as standard. a good clean one still looks well imo.
i want a TT anyway so what do i know?

Perhaps it's a thread to see what the majority of scoob owners think - I'd imagine a high percentage of them would look down their noses at a 14 yo Porker and think their scoobs would be that much better - especially the new breed of owners who've only bought their cars based on journalism.
Back on topic, I always wanted a 924GT - think they look pretty cool, but a 944 turbo would do as well
