Type R's
#6
Don't buy a Type R if your after buying as cheap as posible. spend 12-14K on an unmolested car with low miles. If you buy one I would advise you have a remap, knock link and an uprated fuel and oil pump. The remap will set you back £1,400 and the rest another £400-600. Money VERY well spent!
Type R's are known for blowing engines, due to poor fueling, be careful! Been there, done that.
You need to learn as much as posible before buying a Type R, otherwise it WILL cost you.
But what a car! I've been in most scoobs, and this is in my opinion the very best of the lot, simply awesome! I just got rid of mine and I miss it already.

Moved to other Marques!!
Type R Impreza's we are talking about here.
Cheers Mad, would rather buy a cheap modded one to save having to spend loads of money on parts, not sure about a £1400 remap though lol
GEMS would cost around £1400 but you dont need a GEMS to sort out the fueling, it could be done MUCH cheaper.
Just about to sell/strip my own car, a standard type r has no chance again this baby.
