Dropped by a Seat Leon Cupra R!
I must admit it was quite quick. I came up behind it on a fast A type road (private road) and when it overtook a lorry, I followed. This happened a few more times on the journey and each time he was able to pull out 4-5 car lengths gap before speeds got silly.
The thing is I would have murdered him in my Scoob and probably thought he wasn’t trying. What car was I driving? My wife’s Hyundai Coupe 2.0 SE (4 years old), which is standard.
Now I’ve never considered the Coupe to be a performer, although it has excellent pick up from in any gear at 2k revs (I can only dream of this response inn the Scoob) but I didn’t expect it to worry any hot hatch.
Now I’m thinking that a decat and filter may reduce the gap… Oh dear…

No question a standard one would easily keep up with a scooby, one with a remap you wouldnt see which way it went. In the dry they hang on pretty good in the corners too.

I took one the other day in an 11 year old 227000 mile Legacy turbo with only a Dawes valve on it, but I did have to work the box for it Yes it was a Cupra R. Mighty fine looking, just not very quick

Well since the Legacy only weighs 70kg more and has the same torque as standard and I increased the boost from 0.6 to 1.0 bar, then what would you expect? I'm a crap driver as anyone that has sat with me knows, I just cover it up with power.

For hilarity value an old Legacy can't be beaten Wait until we get the 2.5 and big turbo in it Maybe the LCR was bottling it because it was rather wet and there was a roundabout involved, but then I can't drive, so he couldn't have been bottling it more than me

Cupra got a very good chassis as well, there are other FWD sports cars that are better, when I tested one, I was on the Tolworth round-a-bout in surrey, I raced to beat the lights changing, and turned off down the slip road onto the motorway which has reverse camber, I realised I was going 'just a little' too fast, and lifted off and quickly knocked it down to second - woo hoo nearly wet the bed, oversteered right out, bang back on with the power bit of lefty-righty action and smile from ear to ear. Didn't feel like a nasty under-steering chassis - felt like a lot of fun. I raked the pants off it, when I took it back to the dealer it was quite embarassing, it smelt VERY hot, clutch smells and hot rubber! I really rate the Seat - more practical and better image than Civic and Cooper, and better built quality than the Clio...

I've just sold my Legacy 260BHP the only thing that every caned it was a RS4 and X5 4.4i (Bogged it down). I must admit only battered a Impreza Turbo once. Din't come across any others. Don't anyone knock Legacy Turbo's they were an excellent predecessor to the Impreza.

One attached itself to the rear end of my Fiat Coupe Turbo, I left it for dead, maybe mine was quicker or he was scared of the flames...

It was an 04, don't remember the rest, a bit like the the colour of an RB5, but slower
Did look rather nice though.
The Legacy was a rusty silver colour BTW
Look out for exceedingly fast rusty sheds soon

I've found a similar thing and been very surprised by the speed of the Leon on arounbds and motorway. Not quite as good on the scoobs on b roads but pretty damn rapid. Not surprising as a UK Scoob is not that quick with all that 4WD gear to lug around compared to some hot hatches.
A friend of mine has a Charade GTti with 150bhp and I cannot keep up with that in the Scoob below 80ish
