Question Golf R332???

Does anyone know anything about the above car or even if such a model exsists (It's meant to say R332 by the way)

I am very interested as I saw one yesterday and was surprised at how quick it was and was interested in any specs.

I was thinking it may just be a modified V6 4Motion or maybe even 1.8T but it was definately not an R32 as it was a 5 Door and a very dark grey with tinted rear lights and glass.

Has anyone heard of an R332 then?

Steve

There are 5-door R32's, and there is no R332 built by VW.

Must of been an R32 then but I would swear on my life the badge said R332.

Next time I see an R32 I am going to look at the badge to see how it looks and whether i did make a mistake.

Unfortunately I couldnt get in front of him to see the badge on the grill

Steve.

R32 has big wheels (18") and twin exhausts (one on each side).

You can't miss them as they look pretty special; sound special too!

Termiator - It had twin Exhausts but there were not in the usual R32 Config and it didnt Sound that special either.

It looked just like a normal 1.8T exhaust.

The more I think of it the more i get depressed that I couldn't keep up with a 1.8T in a straight line!!!!! (It must of been modded )

Think its time for an STI with PPP

The reason you could not keep up with it is because it has a 3.2 litre engine, hence R32.Its the same engine that is in the new Audi TT.

Yea it was very drak grey maybe black. The badge on the back was the same colour as the car so abit difficult to read without travelling up his exhaust pipe

It was a 51 or 52 plate as i remember, Tinted windows and Big alloys.

Was this the one??? If so please tell me what the 332 means???

That's the one it's a 51 reg and runs 18" polished alloys. The 332 means BHP it's actually 334 but that wouldn't look right on a badge It's incredibly fast and well planted. There's no way a scoob would keep up

OK, that makes a tad more sense as the only way you'd get that much out of the 3.2 is to supercharge or turbo it. He'll either have a Garret or IHI turbo conversion, both of which would make it somewhat rapid.

I guess:
TT 225 engine, with Jabbasport IHI turbo, manifold and remap, 330bhp no problem.

Hi 248SPG and to you PaulP,

It was me you spotted trying to break up the monotonous 200 mile journey. Original spec of the car was a 5 door 2001 150bhp 1.8t with about 60k on it. Main changes have been suspension, wheels, brembo brakes, exhaust and tints. It does have an R32 front bumper though, the exhaust is a 4motion style exit but nothing loud.
Engine changes were the addition of an IHI, it did have a garret but that was changed in February. Front mount intercooler and then all the usual injectors and remap.

I saw misty suggest an evo would see it off but no one has ever played! scoobies and M3s seem to be the main goaders but no fun yet from a mitsy. I've never been in an Evo but I've kinda always wanted one, and everyone knows the appeal of a scooby so although my car is quick, it's taken a lot to do it and there's still more work needed. I reckon I'd rather have spent the money on a car that's designed to do the job rather then try and create one.
Since playing with a scoob on some back roads I was pleased at my cars ability to keep up on the bends what with it only being fwd and since then I've fitted new ARBS and bushes and it feels so much more planted. it could of course be that the driver of the scoob wasn't too knowledgeable on those particular roads but he was certainly giving it some elsewhere.

If you do come accross an R32 it shouldn't give you any grief, they're not all that quick. 240 bhp but they're heavy buggers Nice though with a twin turbo conversion...

Cheers

Rich

R332,

so if it was an original 1.8t 150bhp engine, surely youve had the internal uprated too, or did you swap the engine out for a much stronger 225 engine in the first place.

must be great fun to drive, 330bhp in car weighing what about 1150kgs
But traction must be an issue with all that power through the front wheels, but once moving i bet it shifts some !!

Mark,

No the internals are standard and it's still the 150 engine not the 225. ideally yes these are all things that probably ought to be done but I have faith and an empty pocket so for the moment it will do as it is. Traction can be a bind pulling away but then I just ease off until it holds and then I'm away. I'm not into sprints and standing starts so I'm not too bothered about it and am more about having the grunt once in motion. Although m/way slip roads in the wet can prove annoying when you're trying to get up a bit of joining speed, but again it's all about just controlling the power. You can spin the wheels in almost any car if you really want to (as you all know) but you just don't floor it so much, same applies here but 4wd would be a much preffered option. As I said in my first post, buying the right tool for the job in the first place like most of you have done would be more sensible rather than trying to create it.

It is fun to drive but again, would I rather a scoob or an evo... probably....

Paul, Yeah Goldie gave me the heads up, I've got some mikalor clamps on order and some new bits of hose to tidy up that abortion under the bonnet. So no more hoses popping off when I'm playing with scoobies

Cheers
