Windscreen keeps steaming up

Got a massive stone chip in the windscreen of my astra a couple of weeks ago so had to have it replaced as it cracked.
Since the new one has been in it keeps steaming up as soon as i start the car up.
Doesnt matter whether it is night, day, hot, cold, raining or not!
Does it when the air con is on and off too.
Tried putting the blower on the screen to clear it but that doesnt work either.
The only way it seems to clear is if i have the windows down, but thats not much good when it is cold and raining at night!
Anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening?
Could the guy that changed the screen have knocked something, or is it just coincidence?
Am at a complete loss and dont know how to go about fixing the prob.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Sure it's not got air recirculation on the air con controls? From memory most cars have had this for years back before aircon was common....

Not sure of the Astra layout but check the inlet for the heater matrix. This is usually under the bonnet next to the bulkhead - looks like a big, long bin without a lid. It has drain holes in either end and if these get blocked with leaves etc, water swills around and it's this moisture which gets drawn into the matrix.

Slightly less technical answer than Mark Miwurdz, but i had exactly the same thing on a Pug 306 XSI - I think on reflection that it was steaming up because it was the first time I'd used the heater since the winter (a good 4 months without using the heater - just the cold air fan) I think that rain water had got into the sytem/pipes were a bit damp, and so I left the car running with the fan on for about half an hour and that completely solved it. (I initially just let the heater clear the windscreen, then turned it off - but kept misting up, so blasted it for about half an hour in the end). Hasn't reoccured (did make me think the RAC autowindscreen guy had bggered it up by not sealign windscreen properly etc, as it was just after windscreen was changed too - but think it was simply moisture in the heater pipes).
Hope you've got it sorted.

If the Astra is like other VX models you'll have a blocked drain plug...
Look in the middle of the drain off area in front of the windscreen, you'll see what can only be described as an elephants trunk running into the engine bay - straight down.
This gets gunked up really easily and the drain area fills with water, and as the fan for the cabin air sits just above it, it sucks in water vapour.
Clear out the drain, trying not vomit. 'cos it is disgusting... and you'll be sorted.
