Cheap Evo 8's...
Afternoon all
I've just spotted that the company I C/Hire my Scooby from are now promoting Evo 8's for just £299.99 pm. As I've never driven an Evo, should I be or Incidentally, I pay £350.00 + VAT for my WRX
Whaddayareckon folks???

Ordered the Evo 8 260 last Monday, outright purchase so I got the £1K discount and three years/27000 miles free servicing.... just can't wait to pick it up now.
Been for a blast in one and the grin factor is pretty impressive, not been in another Evo so can't compare though.
Go on, you know you want to...

Oh, and his WRX "only has the low level spoiler and 5 speed box"

Have you been out in one? Do you know anyone that has? Well, I can answer yes to both of those, and If you re-read what I put, the point I was trying to make was compared to the MR280 (JDM)/FQ300/FQ320 etc, was not as good and that Pablohuney shouldnt be too concerned... I think if you look at the amount of 260's that they the UK dealers have sold.. the figures will speak for themselves. I also know of someone that bought a 260 and realised after a couple of months they should have gone for the 300... he went back to the same dealer he bought it from, the dealer offered them £6000 less than what he paid 2 months earlier against a FQ300... how goods that!
Oh, and as always IMHO
Didnt realise I was on the lancer register, thought i was on scoobynet

Whilst looking at a different car on www.drivethedeal.com I discovered the MR260 with a big discount in their special offers section.

I am in no way going to pass any comment whatsoever on the previous post.
(That'll be a first, then )

Friend owns a tuned Evo 7, another owns a tuned Evo 3. Step dad owns a standard WRX SL and has test driven the 260 and MR340 (omg is all I can say). Knowing the owner of the Mitsubishi garage also has it's benifts, as does knowing the people who own the Subaru garage down here, so enough of the ***** waving please.

And, again, I find it funny when people go "it's not a real evo as it doesnlt have the spoiler + box".
Personally I would be tempted in getting a car that has similar performace (those figures whilst official do seem higher than mag tests suggest) than my current car etc but cost 50 a month less...
I'm sorry anyway, I will leave the talk on other marques out of a scoobynet discussion (that's in the other marques section...)

Woudl be a hell of a tough choice, but out of a WRX SL with PPP (don't bother with the spoiler) or an Evo 260 I'd take the WRX as they cost the same. If only they made an STi without the gold wheels...
Pity in this situation a standard WRX is costing £50 more a month than a 260

Where did i say "its not a real evo"???
So if my post has offended anyone, wasnt intended... was just pointing out to Pablohoney, not to be too concerned at the price of the Evo on contract hire if it was a 260.. lo and behold it was. Was mainly saying (obviously not very well) for a few grand more you could get the better car(FQ300 or MR280). Giving a fellow Scoob owner a bit of support

Edited to say:- Wires getting crossed

True if I was buying I'd definitely go for the higher model, even if I had to go second hand.
But for contract hire I'd give it a go, if you don't like it you get rid of it after a year or two anyway and get something else
