The new Spec C RA is not faster than the normal Spec C, as it is a Ltd Edition and comes with a lot more toys. Seems Subaru has changed their thinking on the badging. It will have all the toys the JDM STi has plus a few more, but the handling should be better as well as it being faster.

£47K is a bragain I reckon when you compare it to what you would need to spend to get higher performance in a normal car (not caterham etc) ...I reckon you gonna need a 911 GT3 or noble etc to give that a hard time and they have got to be another 25-30K at the least for the equivilent spec.
I would be interested to see their lap times for the 'ring' in it ....anyone know ???

It's daylight robbery!

Especially seeing as it's based on an £8000 saloon car in japan....

They put this massive wish list of parts on - can only just hit 400bhp & a **** poor 355bhp...

You could achieve the same results with an other Evo for about 3 grand and save yourself £20k

Yes you dont get a **** poor 3 year warranty - but the £20k plus you saved will more than cover it.

For £50k it needs to be a damn sight more special than it is.

I guess maybe im looking at things a little differently then you are. At some point in the near future I will be looking for a NEW standard car which is quicker than my scoob. At present there isnt a short list coz I cant think of anything which does the trick without it costing me big money. The cars I can think off are CSL, GT3 Noble. These are all well on the worng side of £55K new. Help me out by telling me what I can have and I will agree with you. I dont mean the type 25 or any modded cars either.

Oh and as for the ''they can only reach the 400BHP mark'' i think its you thats having a laff. 400BHP is massive power in any car. I think we get a little blasey (spelling) about power these days. I can remember not so long ago when 100BHP from 2ltrs was the benchmark ...

400bhp is a phenomenal amount of power and probably at the limit of the 2 litre engine block. I would watch for reliability issues. However it will be an absolute beast of a car....

But here is a thought, buy a MY04 Sti for about £20k drop a 2.6 litre block into (approx 10k) and run 400bhp all day long

Makes the £47k tag seem a bit on the heavy side.

£30k Supercar...... just a thought.

Most of you guys will spend nearly 10k in mods anyway.

Show me a 2.0 Impreza with 3yrs, 60,000 mile warranty that can do this

405bhp @ 6400rpm and 355lb ft of torque @ 5500rpm

0-60mph in 3.5 seconds,
0-100mph in 9.1 seconds,
Top speed in excess of 175mph

There are probably some turbo'd 2ltr engine transplanted nova's that probably think they could keep up with one
For the price it probaly is going to be one quick car, but for reliability its had pretty much everything uprated, hence the price.

Hardly!

Plenty of people run Evos with that power and more, with good reliability

FWIW, I ran a basically standard engine (just remap and increased boost) @ 360 bhp for 3 years. No reliability problems

Putting things into perspective, as the article says, it's quicker 0-60 than a £330,000 Porsche Carrera GT, for a fraction of the cost.

I'd have one if I had £47 grand in my back poke.

Andy.

But they don't have the full manufactuers warrenty
imho to have that power from an Evo and it all being offical/above board etc is great.

Although I do think it will be extremely limited as only die hard enthusiasts etc will pay that cash for it.

I'd rather have an m3

Never mind Impreza's, how about a TVR Tuscan or Tuscan S? (compare top speed, 0-100 and 0-150 - I think you'll find it has adequate performance, style and miles better sound)

You lot haven't got a clue!!! 47K for some jap crap. Give me a break. 35K is the limit, then you're into a different league in terms of quality, style, etc. Come on!!! Who on earth is going to spend 47K on a EVO, unless they're loaded and want it as a 3rd car!!

Evo magazine point out that you would go quicker cross country in an FQ320 or 340 and that the turbo spools 1500 RPM later.

What an ill informed, tosser you must be! What's YOUR CAR putting out then? Also you appear to have two sets of power figures and no torque figures??? Please can you give me a list of bits for £3k I need to add to my Evo to bring it up to that spec??? and warranty it for 36kmiles/3 years?? £50k??? the price seems to going up with every post here!!!
If you have an opinion on a subject, then I suggest you fully aquaint yourself with the full facts! before gobbing off a complete load of bo**ocks

Yes but TVR's aren't 2.0 litre engines though are they, hardly a fair comparison.

As I mentioned earlier, mechanically Evos are very reliable, even without uprated internals.

I know that it is hard for Impreza owners to accept that you can easily/reliably get 400bhp out of a 2 litre, but it's true

CCC will probably try and get out of any warranty claims anyway, if my experience is anything to go by

I've got no axe to grind with EVO, having been a subscriber since issue 1, but they don't half talk some bollocks!
